After what happened that one night, it made Sandra turn who she was off, she believed if she became the perfect wife for Diego things would get better, she started to go over to her mother in laws House more to learn from her, given Diego always told Sandra she needed to be more like her, a Mexican woman, Sandra did just that to be happy that Diego found another job quickly, his step father put in a good word for him and he started to work in construction has an insulation.
Diego attitude got worse however, he had to work harder, do more things that were difficult and he would bring that attitude home with him and take it out on Sandra and the girls, Sandra however kept herself quiet and did everything at home, she cleaned, cooked, took care of the girls, his family and her own and just stayed silent, she was hoping with this Diego would change and become the man she feel in love with.
Sandra started to actually believe Diego's words, that everything was her fault, Sandra was succumbing to his put downs and made herself feel ugly, Sandra just wanted to then become the perfect housewife so her husband would stop harassing her and abusing her and they could raise this family and be in love.
Has the days went, Sandra started to lose more sleep, has she was trying to be perfect for everyone but herself, she was losing who she was just to become someone for a man who didn't appreciate one thing she did for him and just kept taking.
Sandra started to become a shallow shell of herself but she kept at it, she just wanted her family, she just wanted love, Sandra was a very simple person and that's all she really wanted.
By three weeks Sandra was rushing around after she placed Sarah to her crib for a nap, to get Emily situated in the potty, to then go about the house to clean everything has her father was in his room to be sleeping given he wasn't feeling good, Sandra almost ran around to make sure the house was spotless, the dinner was cooked has these things happened to be for the last 3 weeks, to then stop to the living room to then eye about to then turn her head to look to the mantle to eye the time, Diego would be home soon but she still had time, Sandra took in a deep breathe to then go to the brown love seat to then sit down to bounce her leg has her anxiety got ahold of her, given she didn't know what type of mood Diego would be in and Sandra knew she had to replace what she felt to be there for Diego, Sandra then pulled her phone out to distract herself for the moment for Emily her eldest daughter to come down to eye about to then go to her mother to stop for a second to then made a face to then go to her mother to then place her 5 year old hand to get left for Sandra to look up to dart her eyes over her to be confused for Emily to take in a deep breathe to then look to Sandra with confidence.
"Don't worry Mommy, I'll protect you from daddy."
Sandra lips parted for her to furrow her brow to then repeat that sentence in her mind, she then looked over her daughter to then drop the phone to the floor to then grab ahold of her daughter to give her a very hard hug to start to breathe heavily to dart her eyes about has tears started to come down her face, who Sandra was started to come back.
Emily..... Is seeing this...... It's not all in my head..... Diego has told me I'm mentally ill, that he is not abusing me, that I'm just being emotional, that's it's all in my head but My daughter is seeing the abuse......oh my god! My 5 year old daughter is seeing how her father is abusing her mother!
Sandra took in deep breathes to get a grip on reality to then move back to eye over her daughter who then placed a hand to her cheek to look over her mother with tears welling in her eyes.
"Mommy..... Please don't cry, I'll protect you."
Sandras tears started to go down more for her to place her hand over her daughter's to then squeeze her eyes.
No my baby girl! Mommy is suppose to protect you, your not suppose to be seeing this! I knew it wasn't all in my head! I fucking knew it! Now my girls are seeing this, this is not at all okay, Diego..... Is never going to change, I need to protect my girls from him, from this abuse!
Sandra opened her eyes to then get up to gather up Emily to give her a very tight hug has Sandras mind started to come back, all she knew was she needed to protect her girls and her father from this man.
After Sandra settled Emily down and when Sarah woke up, they were on the back yard for Sandra to then be on the phone with one of her sister's to then open up about a lot of things .
"I need to divorce him. That's the only way the girls and I can be free. He is never going to change. I just don't know what to do I don't have any money and....."
Sandra then turned her head to see her father come about to eye her with a sullen face. He heard everything.
"Dad I......"
"You need money for a divorce? I have still my father's inheritance. I can help you, I don't want you to stay married to Diego, I'm so sorry you have had to go through this.'
Sandra peered her eyes to the ground to then take in a deep breathe to look to get girls that were playing to the jungle gym to make a hard face to then talk to her sister once again.
"Sis, do you know of any good lawyers?"
