It was a morning like any other. The Christmas holidays were getting closer and closer. And fewer and fewer children were attending kindergarten.

Marjorie took a big sip from her cup. And humming happily to herself.

"I know you're happy, that Siobhan has given her notice. But don't rejoice too soon. Who knows what my father will hire instead.", said Autumn.

But the manager didn't let this comment put her out of her good mood. "Oh come on Autumn! Be happy for once!"

Autumn looked up from her computer. "I am. I Can hardly contain my joy...."

Meanwhile, one floor above them. Winter and Sorsha were in full swing.

"So kids! It may be cold outside, but that doesn't mean we can't do some sports in here!" shouted Winter.

They were in the large playroom on the first floor. Winter started doing jumping jacks to try and motivate the children. All five of them who were here today.

"I don't think that's going to work Winter.", said Sorsha. She sat down on one of the sports mats.

But Winter didn't give up yet. And tried again with another exercise

"Ok Charlotte. I'm going to have my breakfast break now.", said Carly.

Charlotte, who was on the floor sorting out toys, just nodded.

The baby room was closed today and so the two of them took the opportunity to get everything up to scratch again.

Carly ran along the corridor and up the stairs to the first floor. Once up there, she heard the music coming from the playroom.

"They're really getting into it.", Carly thought aloud. Before she went in the other direction to reach the break room.

Autumn was completely absorbed in her work. So much so that she had completely blocked out everything around her. But suddenly something caught her nose.

"Can you smell that?", she asked the older woman.

But she seemed to be preoccupied with something completely different. "What do you mean?" she replied.

Autumn stopped her work and tried to concentrate. "It smells like smoke in here..."

Marjorie gave her a confused look. "Wait... Now that you mention it..."

The two exchange glances. Before they finally got up.

When Marjorie opened the door of the office, she was greeted by a cloud of smoke.

"What the!" she shouted, startled.

At the end of the corridor where the stairs to the upper floor were located, was already completely shrouded in smoke.

"Oh God! Autumn go to the baby room! Check on Char and Carly. I'll set off the alarm!" Marjorie shouted.

Autumn looked at her. "Winter and Sorsha are in the playroom!"

"Damn!" Marjorie hissed. "Nevertheless! Let's not waste any time!"

So the two of them split up and ran in two different directions.

Marjorie stopped. She smashed the small glass where the alarm button was behind it. A deafening sound went off.

Autumn had almost reached the baby room. Charlotte was already coming towards her. "What's going on?" she asked in astonishment.

"There's a fire! We have to get out of here now!"

Charlotte looked at her, startled. "Wait, Carly's in the break room!"
