"Autumn! Good that you're here!". Marjorie came towards her with quick steps.

"I hope it's a good reason. You called me in panic. What is going on?"

The two of them were in the owner's office building, standing outside Roger's office.

"It's about the merger. Roger knew about our plan."

Autumn rolled her eyes. " Of course. We must finally find this rodent of a spy. Is this Janice person here too?"

" No... but she's part of the board of directors now."

" Great... where's my brother?"

" He's still talking to Roger..."

Reece sat opposite his father. The atmosphere in the room was tense.

"What's all this about? What's the point of you constantly causing trouble?" asked Reece.

Roger looked at him angrily. "The only ones causing trouble are you! I'm just making sure that my life's work is passed on to someone suitable!"

"Autumn and I are your children!"

His father laughed. "And you're both disappointments. No! You'll never take over my company! "

" Who then?"

Roger leaned back in his office chair, reached under his desk, and pulled out a box. After opening it, he placed the contents on the table in front of him.

"This is a family heirloom. It has been in our possession for generations, and neither you nor your sister deserve it."

Reece looked at the object. It was an old revolver. The iron was engraved with countless patterns, and the handle of the weapon was probably made of ivory. "What does that now to do, with anything?"

"Your great-great-grandfather used it to protect his family. And it has been in our possession ever since. We are called Knight! Our family history can be traced back to the 1600s. And I won't let you two drag that name through the mud!"

"Well, we are your heirs."

Roger stood up. "Not for much longer. Siobhan will give me children!"

Reece looked at him in . " What! You're sixty! And how do you even know if she wants any?"

"She'll give me a child, whether she wants to or not. And she won't run away like your mother. I maybe have another twenty years on this earth. Enough time to raise this child properly!"

Reece jumped to his feet. "You can't do that!"

"Yes, I can! And I'll tell you one more thing, Reece. If you think you're going to dishonour our family by marrying Marjorie! Trust me, you'll regret it!"

Reece clenched his hand into a fist.
He was always shocked anew by his father. This monster who had destroyed the lives of so many.

"Get out, Reece! And don't forget what I told you! Tell your sister too! Either you both finally give in! Or you'll learn what it means to lose someone!"

Marjorie and Autumn were outside the office door. When a loud bang echoed through the building. Autumn immediately yanked the door open.

"Oh God!" Marjorie shouted.

The wall was coloured red. The smell of metal and gunpowder was in the air.

Autumn slowly approached the person holding the gun. They didn't seem to notice her but stared straight ahead. The gun still pointed forward.

Autumn reached out her hand and placed it carefully on the person's arm.

" Reece... Give me the gun..."

Her brother's arm was shaking, he lowered his arm slowly, and Autumn quickly took the gun from his hand.

She looked over the desk and saw her father. Lying on the floor, a gaping hole in his chest.

Marjorie managed to pull herself out of her shock and quickly ran to her boyfriend. She pulled him into a hug.

Reece broke at the touch, his legs giving way. Marjorie held him tightly in her arms.

Autumn, meanwhile, had crouched down next to her father's body. She looked at him emotionlessly.

"To each their own..."
