After a sleepless night, Charlotte arrived at work an hour before opening. She had done something last night that she hadn't done since her divorce from her husband. Overthinking.

She had spent the whole night thinking about everything down to the smallest detail. Which now, in hindsight, only gave her more of a headache.

She loved Mia. More than anything.

But Mia was still shrouded in mystery. She didn't talk about everything and only seemed to pick out certain things from her past that she shared.

To Charlotte's surprise, she wasn't alone in the Nursery. The light was already on in the manager's office.

Autumm was already sitting at her computer, typing away. When she saw Charlotte, she immediately raised her eyebrow sceptically.

" What are you doing here so early?"

" I couldn't sleep..." Charlotte mumbled.

"Because of the thing with Deliah?"

Charlotte looked up in surprise.

" Marjorie filled me in. Don't worry Charlotte. She's always been crazy, even back at school. Whatever she says. Don't believe her."

Maybe Autumn was right, but there was one thing Deliah didn't seem to be lying about.

"Autumn. Mia confessed to me yesterday that she had a thing with her..... every time Reece and her were broken up.."

The deputy manager immediately stopped typing. Her icy eyes spoke louder than words.

Charlotte normally only approach Marjorie, when it came to things like this. But Autumn and Deliah had a past. Maybe she could give her some good advice.

"I'm worried, Autumn. What if things don't go well between me and Mia. Will she go straight to Deliah? What's more, she never told me about this..... If Deliah hadn't started as deputy manager here, Mia would never have told me about it..... That's the other thing, I sometimes feel like Mia keeps so many things from me." A lump formed in Charlotte's throat.

Autumn had turned completely towards her and just listened.

"We fought yesterday. No, it was not really a fight. I was just so mad at her..... Autumn, what if she's already with Deliah..." Tears formed in Charlotte's eyes.

Autumn rose from her seat and reached for the woman's arm.

"Charlotte, I've known Mia a little longer than you have. She would never cheat on you. She loves you more than anything. I don't approve of what she did with Deliah. But the whole situation with her and my brother was just difficult. I think she just needed an outlet."

Mia was standing in the Sister Nursery car park, waiting. She had her car window open and was smoking out of it.

The night was terrible. She hadn't slept a wink. She had already written a message to Charlotte this morning, but had not yet received a reply.

A silver Ford pulled into the car park.

Mia flicked her cigarette out of the window and got out.

Deliah was just opening the passenger door to get her bag. When she noticed a shadow looming behind her.

She had to grin, she knew exactly who was standing there.

"Hello Mia."

The redhead stood there with her arms crossed. " I want to make one thing clear! Get over yourself! It was never serious between us and never will be! So leave Charlotte alone!"

Deliah just grinned and approached her, she began to walk around her. Like a predator with his prey.

" Nothing serious? Well, if you say so. Does Charlotte know where you went after you were fired?"

Mia immediately gritted her teeth.

"Does she know you turned up at my door? It really was a nice night." She stopped right in front of her face. Deliah had to stand on her tiptoes to somehow make eye contact with Mia.

But even so, the redhead towered over her.

" What happened there. Meant nothing!"

Deliah laughed. " Oh Mia. Don't kid yourself. You together with her? Are you gonna settle down with a woman who has two kids? That's not you. And even so, what would poor Charlotte say. When she realised what you did that day? Are you gonna tell her?"

Mia said nothing and just stared at her. If there was one thing Deliah was good at, it was mind games.

"You probably haven't told her about me yet, or have you?" She tilted her head." No. Mmmh I wonder what she would say if I told her what you did?"

Anger boiled up inside Mia. "Stay away from her!"

" Why? Afraid your dirty little secret will come out? Oh Mia, you just can't be honest with the people you love..."

How much Mia just wanted to punch her in her cheeky mouth.

" So, if you not gonna tell her. I will. Trust me.... Well, excuse me. I have to go to work."

Mia's thought are running. She had to tell Charlotte. Better her than Deliah.

The redhead wrote to Charlotte and ask her to come around after work so they could talk. And to her relief, she agreed.

Mia waited nervously, how could she best tell Charlotte? Without hurting her feelings in the least.

When she walked in the door of her flat, Charlotte was already there. Her jacket was on the wardrobe.

Mia found her in the kitchen. Sitting at the kitchen island drinking tea.

" Baby..."

Charlotte looked up, and Mia fears realised.

"I had a visitor at work today."

" I don't know what she told you, but please listen to me..."

Charlotte shook her head. " So the day you supposedly fell in love with me. You went to another woman. How could you Mia..."

Mia swallowed hard. "It was a mistake... I'm sorry."

Charlotte looked into her cup. "Do you know what the worst thing is? You would have never told me yourself... You keep so many secrets from me, Mia. Sometimes I feel like I don't know you."

Mia was at a loss for words. Her girlfriend's eyes showed how hurt she was.

Charlotte got up and went to her.
" I need some time to myself..."

" What?"

" Mia, you really hurt me. I need some space..."
