London was shrouded in darkness, nine o'clock at night just hit on the Big Ben. Vivian had just got off her late shift and was on her way home.

She knew Jamie was well looked after, the babysitter was with him. Vivian was about to cross the Westminster Brigde, when she saw someone she knew on the benches near the Thames.

Vivian stopped, she hadn't spoken to her since the engagement. The nurse sighed and wanted to move on. But her gut feeling stopped her. It must be a sign to see her here so late.

Siobhan stared across the turbulent river, it had been raining for the last few days and the water had risen. She played with the ring on her finger. The ring that would soon bind her to a man she did not love. But freeing herself from his clutches was impossible.

Siobhan looked at her hands, her palms had crescent shaped wounds, these came from her nails. She had been so tense for weeks that she was constantly cramping up. Unfortunately, these were not the only marks on her body.

There were bruises all over her. When Roger gripped too hard again. Each of these bruises showed how fragile she actually was.

Siobhan was in her own world, she had completely blocked out the world around her. That she didn't even notice the person sitting down next to her on the bench.

It was only when the familiar perfume reached her nose that she looked up. Vivian was sitting next to her on the bench, looking at the river in front of her. A sad yet worried expression marked her face.

Even though the two women were sitting on the same bench, there was a distance between them. Siobhan didn't know what to say. She didn't have the words. What could she say to Vivian? Sorry for leading you on? Sorry for giving you hope, only to dash it later.

Siobhan remained silent and let her gaze wander to the water.

Vivian looked cautiously in the direction of the woman next to her. She looked so fragile, so withdrawn. Vivian didn't know what to say either. Sorry for just letting you fall? Sorry that I wasn't strong enough to protect you? She didn't know what to say.

So the two women sat here by the water in silence. Neither of them knew how to approach the other.

Finally Vivian sighed loudly.
" Siobhan I..."

At the same moment, Siobhan started to speak. " Viv..."

The nurse immediately stopped talking. "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you."

Siobhan played with the ring on her finger again. " It's ok... I just wanted to say that this thing between us can't happen again..." tears formed in her eyes. It was better this way. She would never be able to free herself from Roger's clutches, and even if she did, she was far too damaged.
"I'm just sorry that I gave you hope Viv. But you will find someone who deserves you." These words hurt Siobhan more than anything else and the mask fell, and with it the tears.

Vivian carefully moved closer to her and took Siobhan's hand. "I don't want anyone else. I want you." She tried to sound strong, but she was also on the verge of tears.

Siobhan looked at her, a small glimmer of hope flaring up inside her. So the blonde let herself fall into Vivian's arms.

"We'll find a way to get you out of this..." Vivian whispered and gave her a gentle kiss on the head.

Siobhan didn't yet know how she would free herself. But she knew that she had found a saviour who would catch her no matter what happened.

She lifted her head to look into Vivian's deep dark brown eyes. The nurse wiped the tears from her cheek and smiled slightly at her.

Siobhan leaned forward and gave her a kiss. Even if the kiss was bittersweet. Siobhan just wanted to feel safe, and Vivian knew that she had to keep fighting for this woman.
