When Clodagh opened her eyes, she immediately heard the soft snoring of her wife next to her. She smiled and turned towards her. Sorscha was lying on her back, arms and legs stretched out.

Clodagh sat up quietly and watched her for a while. She was so lucky to have met Sorscha.

Sorscha was her sun. The light in life. Her air and her heartbeat.

Clodagh reached out and gently stroked a strand of hair from Sorscha's face.

After a while, Clodagh got up, she still had a lot to do. Today was her wonderful wife's birthday and she wanted to finish everything quickly before Sorscha woke up from her deep sleep. She had earned it. Clodagh knew how stressful everything was for Sorscha. She simply worried too much.

With Quinn in her arms, she made breakfast. At the same time, she read the message on her phone.

'Reece has baked a cake, we'll be there at mid-afternoon with the others' - Marjorie.

Clodagh smiled, the Nursery Staff were a blessing. A second family who were always there when you needed them.

The table was set, bread rolls, jam and muesli already on it. Clodagh was so absorbed in her thoughts that she didn't notice the quiet footsteps behind her. Two arms wrapped around her.

"Good morning babe. Hi Quinn," she murmured.

Clodagh turned round in her arms. She placed her free hand on her cheek.

"Good morning darling. Happy birthday." She pressed a kiss to her lips. "I actually wanted to wake you up, but now you're already awake." She laughed lightly.

Sorscha stroked Quinn's head. "Well, you were too slow."

"So sit down, darling."

After everyone had eaten their breakfast. Clodagh stood up and placed a present in front of her wife.

" Babe, that wasn't necessary. Quinn and you are my greatest gift."

Clodagh raised her eyebrow. "Unwrap it darling," she pressed a kiss to the top of her head.

Sorscha opened her gift, inside were two whisky glasses. Sorscha recognised these glasses immediately. "Are these the glasses from the pub where we had our first real date?"

Clodagh smiled sheepishly. " Yes, they are. The glasses you tried to steal in your drunken mind."

" How did you manage that? They even have the pub's logo on them!"

" I rang the owner and asked. The post journey from Dublin was a bit long. But they arrived on time."

Sorscha jumped up from her chair and wrapped her arms around her wife. "You don't know how much I love you right now."

The afternoon dawned and the doorbell rang. Sorscha opened it and Marjorie immediately threw her arms around her neck. Behind her stood Reece with a cake in his hand and Carly. "Happy birthday!" they shouted. "Here." Marjorie handed her an envelope. "A voucher for you and Clodagh to go out for a nice meal. We would babysit, of course."

"Thank you very much," said Sorscha.

Clodagh took the cake from Reece and placed it on the table. He, Marjorie and Carly took their seats.

Autumn and Winter were the next to arrive. Winter hugged Sorscha tightly, while Autumn just raised her hand.

"Here for you," Winter handed her a present. After Sorscha had torn away the wrapping paper, she had to laughed. She held up a shirt for Quinn, with a picture of a Doberman on it and the words 'Protected by the Guarddog' underneath.

"Whose idea was that?" asked Sorscha.

Winter looked at Autumn with a slight grin.

"Winter's." said Autumn dryly.

Charlotte and Mia were the last to arrive. After wishing Sorscha a happy birthday and hugging her. Char handed her an envelope.

" For you and Clodagh, of course we'd babysit," said Charlotte.

"A spa-weekend! That is far too expensive!"

Charlotte grinned. "I didn't pay for it."

Mia just shrugged her shoulders. " You're welcome."

Sorscha sat down at the table, with her family. The Irish couldn't be happier.
