Mia drowned her feelings in alcohol. She went to a pub and drank one gin after another.

But her feelings didn't give her any peace, not only did her heart ache, her whole body hurt.

She couldn't even cry anymore, she had been doing that all night.

Mia swirled her gin. The memories of yesterday came flooding back.

How she fell to her knees in front of Charlotte, clinging to her and begging her not to leave. But Charlotte had left and there has been radio silence ever since.

Why did she have to destroy everything she touched, it was too good to be true. Mia should have known that she was not destined to be happy.

It was already late in the evening when she stumbled out of the pub, dragging herself to her car. No longer fit to drive, but she wasn't worried about that at the moment.

"If I were you, I wouldn't be doing this."

Mia recognised this voice and the anger came up immediately.

"You!" she wheeled round.

"Me?" Deliah said innocently.

Mia stormed towards her. "You've ruined everything for me!" She tried to push her, but Deliah simply took a step to the side, the alcohol clouding Mia's senses and she fell to the floor.

" Oh Mia. Don't act so surprised. Did you really think that someone like Charlotte would choose you? Don't be delusional. I bet she's already back with her 'ex-husband'."

"Shut up!" Mia pulled herself to her feet. Deliah wanted to get into her head.

"You don't believe me? Then why don't you call her?" she said innocently and smiled at Mia.

She shouldn't respond to these provocations, but Mia wanted to prove her wrong. She dug her phone out of her pocket and dialled Charlotte's number.

It took a while before she picked up.

"Mia?" Her voice sounded tired and sad.

Mia's heart tore. " Hey... I'm worried... Are you safe? Where are you?" she said as she looked at Deliah, who just grinned.

There was a brief silence on the other end. "Mia? Have you been drinking?"

" Yes...... Char, where are you?" she asked again.

It was quiet again. " I'm with Thomas, my ..." Mia hung up, she didn't want to hear any more.

"And was I right?"

Mia hung her head. So it was true. She should have known.

She felt a hand on her cheek and her gaze was guided upwards.

" What did I tell you. Nobody will ever Love you, like i do."

She smiled at the redhead and then began to walk past her.

" Where are you going?", called Mia after her.

" Home, wanna join?"

Charlotte looked at her phone, confused. What was that? She was alone on the sofa at her ex-husband's house. She tried to call Mia back. But she didn't answer.

The thought of Mia getting drunk somewhere tore at her heart. She shouldn't have left. But it hurt too much.

She exhaled, put her phone down and lay back on the sofa. Charlotte was just so exhausted from crying, from the last sleepless night. She would try to talk to Mia again tomorrow.
