Charlotte was back in her familiar surroundings. Fortunately. She wouldn't have lasted another day with Siobhan.
The event that had taken place in the manager's office a few days ago was still haunting Charlotte. It haunted her dreams. But now she could put it all behind her.
So she went to work. Marjorie had apologised to her over and over again for having to work in the sister nursery for so long. But Charlotte reassured her that everything was fine. Well, except for one thing. But she didn't want to tell anyone about that.
Charlotte was only working part-time today. When she returned home, neither her children nor her husband were waiting for her.
The house was empty and in chaos.
Charlotte exhaled in annoyance as she started to pick things up from the floor. Where the hell was Thomas! She called him.
" Hey baby..."
" Where are you?!"
" At my mum's, the kids wanted to see their grandma."
" Ok... When are you coming home, I want to start cooking."
" You don't have to, my mum just cooked something for us."
Charlotte narrowed her eyes in anger, she had done the shopping for nothing.
".... All right. Have fun, then." Her husband couldn't answer her because she had already hung up.
God, she was furious. She started tidying up again, he couldn't even do that for her.
When she had finished, she noticed a packet in the kitchen. It was addressed to her.
Strange, she hadn't ordered anything. She carefully opened the packaging.
There was an elegant black box with a card attached to it. Charlotte took it in her hand and unfolded the paper.
A thank you for our good cooperation.

"Siobhan....," whispered Charlotte. She wasn't exactly in the mood to think about this woman right now.
But curiosity got the better of her and she opened the box.
Inside was a beautiful silver necklace. The clasp of the necklace was a black leather strap that would lay halfway across the neck of the wearer. The chain was attached to the leather strap twice, so that two chains would hang down the wearer's neck.
Charlotte took the necklace in her hand. She couldn't even remember the last time her husband had given her something like this.
Charlotte thought about the blonde kissing her neck. She could feel her heartbeat rising.
The brunette stepped carefully in front of the mirror in her hallway and put on the necklace.
For a moment, she just looked at herself.
But then reason spoke to her. No, Siobhan was a heartless and cold woman who had only been playing with her.
She picked up the parcel and the box. She would return the things to her personally.
Charlotte walked past the mirror again and considered taking off the necklace. But she decided against it, she wanted to wear it for a while before she gave it back.
Charlotte stood in front of the elegant house. Roger didn't seem to be at home, only Siobhan's car was parked in the driveway. Charlotte rang the bell.
"Oh, hello..." Siobhan's voice was soft.
