Janice was on her way to Roger's office. She had an appointment with him to discuss the merger again and the best way to get rid of Marjorie.

The manager of the Knight Nursery was quite dogged, but Janice was sure that she would soon be rid of her.

But when she entered the office, it wasn't the owner who was waiting for her, but Siobhan, who was sitting at the large table in the office room, crying. Janice had to grin, what a nice coincidence. The blonde was in her way anyway. Now she finally had the chance to get rid of her.

"Siobhan?" she asked and put on a worried face.

Siobhan looked up in surprise. "Janice... Sorry... I was just leaving."

But the woman with the black hair quickly approached her and sat down next to her. Janice put a hand on the blonde's.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing that should worry you," Siobhan whispered, wiping away a tear.

"Siobhan, I know you don't have a good impression of me. But I'm not a monster," she lied through her teeth. A talent Janice had always had. "It's Roger, isn't it? What has he done?"

Siobhan looked at her critically.

"I see your suspicious look. But believe me, we're in the same boat."

The blonde finally buckled. "I can't do it anymore Janice. I have to get out of this relationship, but if I did. My life would be in danger. Roger would never just let me go, it would be an embarrassment in his eyes."

Janice had to do everything she could not to grin. In her eyes, Siobhan was weak, she was playing her cards wrong. "A difficult situation.... Do you need a drink?"

"Yes, please." Siobhan whispered

Janice stood up, she had been here often enough to know where Roger had his whisky. She took the bottle from one of the cupboards and two glasses. She stood with her back to Siobhan.

Janice carefully reached into her pocket, this was actually meant for Roger or, if she got too annoying, for Marjorie. But now it would be used for Siobhan's doom. As the blonde was still crying quietly, she didn't notice Janice pouring the white powder into one of the glasses. Then she poured the whiskey over it.

She came back to the table and placed the glass in front of Siobhan. She took it in her hand, but didn't drink from it straight away. "Janice, what am I going to do? You've known Roger longer than I have....." There was some hope in her voice. Hope that the woman could help her. But more tears followed immediately." Sorry... I didn't mean to lose my temper like that... Do you have a tissue?"

Janice leaned down and rummaged in her bag. "Here."

After Siobhan had wiped away her tears, she took a big gulp from the glass.

"Well Siobhan, I could give you some advice, lie to you or give you hope. But Siobhan, the situation you're in. It's your own fault." She put on an uncomfortable grin.

"What?"

Janice tilted her head a little and smiled. "You've been a thorn in my side from the start. After my husband had that terrible accident." She laughed." I thought I could grab the next rich old bag, but then you came along! But that problem will now solve itself. "

Siobhan gripped her throat as if she was out of air. "What was in the drink?"

"Oh, let's put it this way. You can poison a Serpent too."

Siobhan gasped for breath, she tried to get up from the chair, but collapsed.

Janice looked at the woman who was now lying on the table in front of her. She took a big sip of her drink. Roger was a monster, but in a perverse way he loved Siobhan. Janice would now be his shoulder to cry on and get even closer to him.

She stood up to leave, but heard a noise behind her as Janice turned around again. Siobhan was sitting upright in the chair. Now she had a grin on her lips.

"Surprised?"

"How is that possible?" exclaimed Janice.

The blonde stood up from the chair. "Do you really think I'm stupid enough to fall for your tricks? But the more important question is, how are you Janice?"

"Oh God!", an oppressive feeling spread through Janice's throat.

"You shouldn't have taken your eyes off that drink. Didn't anyone tell you that a serpent is immune to poison, but a sneaky fox isn't?"

Janice fell to her knees in front of her, unable to breathe, looking up one last time at Siobhan standing over her. Before she collapsed.

The blonde simply stepped over the body on the floor. A chess piece had fallen today, Roger was next on her list.
