Siobhan was happy and felt safe again. But still, her sleep was robbed, her thoughts would not let her go. She stared at the ceiling, her fingers tracing circles on the back of the woman lying on her chest, fast asleep.

Siobhan had to smile a little, who would ever have thought that. She, Siobhan Serpent, together with a woman. After she had run away from her own wedding. Come to think of it, they still had to return Reece's car, and she still had Mia to thank for giving her the keys.

The soft sunlight fell into the room. They were in a small inn in Cotswolds. The nature here was beautiful. So peaceful. If she had her way, she would stay here with Vivian forever. But they had to go back eventually.

Vivian stirred, the nurse yawned loudly. "Good morning, Bon. Did you sleep well?"

Siobhan smiled. She hadn't really slept, but that wasn't important now. In response, she gave Vivian a kiss.

The egg hissed as it touched the hot pan. Vivian hummed to herself. She glanced over her shoulder and saw Siobhan sitting at the kitchen counter, a cup of coffee beside her, wearing her blue striped blouse. The blonde looked sceptically at her phone.

Siobhan wondered how she should reply to Marjorie's message, the manager cautiously asked when she could expect her to return.

Siobhan didn't even know if she still wanted to work at the nursery. Or whether she should just resign. Part of her wanted to close this chapter of her life, but another part wanted to help push Roger off from his position. She could use her vote to help the Knight Siblings at the next board meeting.

Her thoughts were interrupted when a plate was placed in front of her. On it were eggs and toast. Vivian gave her a kiss on the head. "Is something bothering you, Bon?"

Siobhan switched off her phone and put it to the side. " Nothing important, it can wait. Thanks for breakfast."

" You welcome."

As Siobhan sat there eating, she realised how different Viv was to her last partner. She was so gentle and careful. She radiated a constant feeling of security.

" Why are you grinning like that? Is there something you want to tell me?" Vivian asked playfully.

"Oh, I'm just happy. That's all."

Yes, Siobhan Serpent was happy. It was a long time ago, when she last had this feeling. She had once written happiness off from her life, but here she was. All the suffering she had experienced over the last few months had been washed away, and she is looking forward to what was to come.
