Reece was a man of few words. Words had only led thim getting hurt in the past. On top of that was he a push over, even if it didn't seem like it. But years in a relationship with a woman, who obviously didn't love him, and yet he kept taking her back, showed him how weak he really was. Now, of course, in hindsight, he knew that Mia was just part of his father's cruel plan and didn't want to be with him any more than he wanted to be with her.

But all this time had left its mark. And sometimes he was still suspicious of everyone.

And on some days it all came back. Everything from his past, from his childhood, from his teenage years, from his time as a young man. Simply everything.

Today was one of those days. Where he questioned everything again. Where he convinced himself that the people in his life were just taking advantage of him and will letting him down in the end, and that he didn't deserve it any other way.

Reece layed in bed all morning and just existed. Lost in thought, which also made him tired. So that he slept again and again for a while.

The dark clouds in his head grew stronger and pulled him deeper into a hole.

He ignored everything around him, including his mobile phone, which layed next to him and vibrated constantly throughout the day.

Reece layed on his back, eyes closed. He was awake but not really there. He felt so cold and numb. He didn't even notice the footsteps approaching him.

In the darkness in which he found himself, a light started to burn. And a warmth spread over his body. Arms wrapped around him. He felt a gentle breath on the side of his neck.

When he opened his eyes and saw her. His light. Marjorie was lying on top of him, her eyes closed and face buried in his neck. Reece smiled slightly and put his arms around her too.

She was the person who had saved him, the person who kept pulling him out of the darkness.

His person for life.

The love of his life.
