As Autumn stepped out of the pub, she could already hear Marjorie and Reece arguing. She sighed and lit a cigarette. Autumn just wanted to get away. Not to be confronted with everything now.

"Aut!" her brother stormed towards her. " What the hell was that?"

She just stared straight ahead, she didn't have the energy to argue now.

" Reece! Leave her alone! She is going through a tough time right now!" Marjorie shouted and placed herself between the two siblings.

"We're not finished yet, Marjorie!" warned Reece, returning his attention to Autumn. "Just because your life is a mess and you've run your marriage into the ground doesn't mean you can destroy another relationship!"

Autumn looked up at him now, seeing the anger in his eyes, she felt nothing. Only indifference, she then looked at Marjorie, in her eyes, she saw regret, which caused Autumn an unspeakable pain.

"Ok..." was all she said, she took another drag and then just walked away. She hoped Marjorie would stop her. But she didn't.

"And you're really sure?" Mia asked again. Autumn had turned up at her flat. The two women had settled down in the living room.

Autumn just nodded. " There's nothing keeping me here. Winter and I weren't married for long. The divorce will happen quickly."

" But just leaving the country? Don't you think that's a bit extreme?"

"Mia, I can't be here anymore. Please."

The redhead sighed. " All right, I can give you the keys. You can live in my holiday flat for as long as you want." Mia had a house in Iceland, Reykjavík to be precise.

"Nobody can know where I am," said Autumn.

"Fine, if that's what you want."

Autumn kept a low profile for the next few days, staying at the hotel and preparing everything for her departure. She only communicated with Winter via a lawyer. Autumn was right, the divorce was almost finalised.

Marjorie and Reece were in a permanent dispute. The relationship was on the verge of a breaking up. Marjorie desperately tried to contact Autumn, but she had blocked everyone, and no one knew where she was. Another argument broke out between the two.

"It's not my fault you want to bang my sister!" shouted Reece.

"I tell you again, Reece! The kiss didn't come from me! But you know what, I'm sure now that I picked the wrong Knight! That's it, we're done!" shouted Marjorie. She grabbed the essentials and stormed out of the house.

She knew there was only one person she could go to at the moment. Charlotte. So Marjorie made her way to her.

Autumn stood on the balcony of her hotel room and smoked, the sun was just setting, and the sky was closing in. There would be thunderstorms tonight. Soon, she would be away from England. But she still had a small part that kept her here, Marjorie. She wanted to see her again before she left. She deserved a proper goodbye.

Her phone rang, it was Mia.

" Yes?"

" Autumn... I don't know how to tell you this now... but you need to get to London Bridge Hospital quickly," Mia spoke from the other end of the line.

It shook her to the core. Autumn dropped everything and made her way to the hospital. Why? Why did everything she touched seem to die? What a cruel fate the universe had now thrown in her direction. Why did Marjorie of all people have to encounter a drunk wrong-way driver?

When she arrived at the hospital, Mia was waiting for her at the door.

"Do you have any news?" Autumn asked desperately.

" She survived the operation... but Autumn, the doctors are certain that she's brain dead. Marjorie's parents have just arrived and are talking to doctors. They want to pull the plug."

Autumn felt like the ground beneath her feet was going to give way. "I have to see her!" she pushed past Mia. The redhead quickly followed her.

She bumped into Reece and Charlotte outside the hospital room. She could see it in her brother's eyes, he blamed her.

Autumn ignored them and entered the room. Slowly, she stepped next to the bed where the woman she had loved in silence for years laid. Autumn took her hand.

"I'm so sorry, Marjorie... This is my fault... I plunged you into ruin..." silent tears ran down her cheeks.

It was too much for Autumn, the last thing that still held her to this place would now go. She looked at Marjorie one last time before storming out of the room. Charlotte tried to stop her, but Autumn tore herself away from her, ignoring her attempts to stop her and ran out of the building. Outside the hospital, as the rain poured down on her, she collapsed.

A loud scream echoed through the night. As Autumn cursed the higher powers.

That very evening, she packed her things and booked herself a flight. She left everything behind. There was nothing left to hold her here.

It took a long time for Autumn to find her way around Iceland, but she found the island peaceful. Which also gave her peace herself. Her old life was just a memory. So far away that it felt like a completely different life. She lived simply, working a few days a week in a café near her flat.

She didn't have contact with anyone. Mia left her alone, just as Autumn wanted. The redhead was the only person in the world who knew where she was.

Another week began, and Autumn was on her way to work. She liked her job, it was easy. She didn't have much contact with the people here, she lived in seclusion. She never wanted to let anyone get close to her again. She would only end up getting hurt anyway.

As she stood in the café, behind the counter and took the orders, she spotted a couple entering the café. They were two women. One of them was a Ray of sunshine and spoke with much enthusiasm, while the other listened to her but scanned her surroundings with a scowl. A warning that no one should get too close to her girlfriend.

That was supposed to be Autumn life, but it would now be forever out of reach. Even though she had locked all her feelings and memories in a little box deep inside. An unbearable pain was spreading through her chest.

The rest of the day was a blur. When she finally got back to her flat, she crashed straight on the sofa with a bottle of wine. Some bad habits just wouldn't go away. She had just poured herself a glass when the doorbell rang.

Autumn's eyebrows furrowed - who wanted something from her? She made her way to the front door. When she opened it and looked into two familiar eyes, she thought she was dreaming.

This can't be real. It must be her imagination.

"Marjorie?"

But when the woman fell into her arms, she knew that it was real and that a good future must lie ahead of her.
