Hey, this is a sequel to Not all parents love their children.
I'm really thinking whether I should turn it into a story of its own? Is there any interest?

Clodagh hadn't imagined a prison to be like this on the inside, she always assumed it was like in the TV-series. That you walk past the cells and see the other prisoners until you finally get to the person. The one you actually wanted to see.

But to her surprise, the visiting room was bright, almost warm.

Her leg twitched nervously. She already regretted being here. But she had to see them.

The door in front of her opened. A guard entered with her.

He stopped at the door. While the person sat down in the chair opposite her.

Clodagh's fingernails stroked the metal of the table.

" So you really have come... My letter has reached you..."

Clodagh nodded.

"I will die soon, the cancer is eating me from the inside..." the woman opposite her spoke.

"Good..." was all Clodagh could manage. "Is there anything else you want to tell me? That I'm a disgrace, for example?"

But the woman shook her head.
" I've thought a lot.... What I did was a mistake..."

Clodagh had to laugh at this absurd statement. " A mistake?! You almost took the mother of my child! You tried to kidnap me!"

"Yes..... And now I want to apologise....."

"So you're sorry?" Clodagh's voice grew louder.

The older woman nodded.

" I don't forgive you.... I will never forgive you for what you did to me and my family! I hope you die here, slowly and painfully! Or even better! Why don't you kill yourself like Pa?" She banged on the table.

"I had hoped you would give me my peace."

Tears formed in Clodagh's eyes. "No! You don't deserve that! You don't deserve anything!"

"Then why did you come?"

" To tell you to your face that you don't scare me anymore. That I'm going to live my life happily with my family. While you die here!.... I'm done!" Clodagh stood up. "Goodbye Erica."

Only when she was back in the car did she allow herself to cry.

When she arrived home, she saw Mimi and Rick working in her garden.

They had more or less moved into the neighbourhood. It was nice to have the grandparents as neighbours.

Clodagh went to them. "Can I help you with something?"

But Mimi shook her head. "Everything's fine, thank you."

"Where is Sorscha?"

" In the house with Quinn. She wanted to cook something." Rick said.

" Hey darling." Clodagh hugged Sorscha from behind while she was chopping vegetables.

" Hey babe..."

" Is Quinn taking a nap?"

Sorscha nodded. " Where have you been?"

Clodagh sat down slowly at the dining table. Sorscha stood with her back to her.

" I..... Sorscha, I have a confession to make.... Erica wrote me a letter asking for a meeting..."

She saw Sorscha raise her head.

" I was with her today..... She's dying of cancer. But don't think anything wrong, I was just there to give her a piece of my mind..."

Clodagh waited for a reaction from Sorscha. But she didn't get one. Her wife just seemed to stare into space in front of her.

" Sorscha...?"

Clodagh stood up slowly and approached her carefully. As she stood next to her, she saw Sorscha's one hand trembling and her other hand clutching the knife tightly.

"Hey darling ...." she carefully took the knife from Sorscha's hand.

Now this hand was also shaking.

Clodagh knew from where she was standing that Sorscha couldn't see her.

She had been blind in her right eye since the attack. A white film lay over her eye and now hid the green of her iris.

Clodagh slowly placed her hand on her wife's cheek to turn her head in her direction.

Now she could read her wife's gaze.

Sorscha was in fight mode. She was caught in a flashback.

" Darling... it's me..."

She was stared at emotionlessly. But her wife's breathing was rapid and irregular.

Clodagh now took both her wife's hands and turned her body completely towards her.

She could feel the trembling. Clodagh had to be careful now. There was now a danger that Sorscha could snap at any moment.

Clodagh now took her wife's face in her hands. " Darling... look at me..."

Her wife's eyes focussed. She blinked slowly at her.

"Is he here?" Sorscha spoke emotionlessly.

"No, he's dead."

"And she?"

" In prison..."

Clodagh took her carefully in her arms. She could feel how tense Sorscha's body was.

" We're safe..." Clodagh whispered.

Slowly, she realised how Sorscha was returning her embrace.
