Sorscha ran, she ran along the street of her old home town. The rain pelted down on her.

Why didn't her parents believe her?

Clodagh was in danger. The bruises spoke louder than words.

Sorscha had tried to make the teachers at her school aware of this. But again, it was in vain.

Sorscha reached her girlfriend's house.
The emergency services and police were waiting for her there. No, something had happened.

She tried to push past the crowds of people already gathered in front of the house.

But she was stopped by a policeman.

Sorscha saw Clodagh's father being led away in handcuffs.

And then she saw her girlfriend. How she was loaded into the ambulance by the rescue workers.

Sorscha opened her eyes. She pulled up, breathing heavily, sweat on her forehead.

She looked next to her, there in bed lay her wife, sleeping peacefully.

It was just a nightmare. No, it was the memories of the night when she had almost lost the love of her life.

Sorscha heard a noise from the baby monitor. Her daughter had apparently just woken up too.
She felt Clodagh move next to her.

" Go back to sleep babe... I'll check on Quinn..." Sorscha spoke softly.

Now she sat with her daughter in her arms in her nursery and gave her a bottle.

The baby lay quietly in her arms. Sorscha's thoughts were still on the dream.

She didn't want to admit it, but she was afraid. Afraid that Clodagh's parents would come back and do something terrible.

The next few days were normal. Sorscha knew that the confrontation with Clodagh's parents was still bothering her wife.

But Clodagh didn't like to talk about her feelings and especially not about the past.

Sorscha knew her wife would calm down again. She needed some time to feel safe in her home again.

Sorscha's parents would be coming to visit soon,
that would distract them

"Sorscha!" Her mum hugged her tightly.

Her parents both entered. Her father smiled proudly at her and hugged her tightly too.

Now they were all sitting in the living room. Clodagh was talking to Sorscha's mother. Sorscha and her father were drinking a beer.

"I've brought something for the baby..." her father said.

Sorscha looked at him in surprise.

"Come on, it's still in the boot."

The two of them left.

" Clodagh... you look great! And the little one is beautiful!"

" Thank you Mimi..."

Sorscha's mum put her hand on hers.

" Is something wrong?"

Clodagh briefly wondered whether she should tell her. But Mimi was like a second mother to her. The mum she never had.

And so she told her about the meeting with her parents.

" I thought something was wrong.... Sorscha looks so tired..."

Clodagh nodded slowly. Of course she was aware of her wife's nightmares.

"How about we take the baby on a little trip to the park today and you two can relax?" Mimi said.
