A cold wind blew and goose bumps immediately formed under her costume.

She stood alone on the balcony while the party was in full swing behind her. She had to get out, get some air. Away from him, she slowly realised that he wasn't who she thought he was. No. He was a cold, loveless control freak. But she was already too deep in his spider's web. And now she had to make a fool of herself. In this ridiculous Catwoman costume.

She put her hands over her face. How could this go on?

She didn't notice how someone approached her. It was only when she smelled the smoke that she looked next to her.

There beside her, leaning her arms on the railing, cigarette in hand and just staring straight ahead, was his son's girlfriend.

She had only seen her briefly when she arrived late at the party.

The smoke danced around her as she took another drag. "You know, you can fool anyone here. But I can see right through you," she said.

"Excuse me?"

She looked at her, her red hair falling into her eyes. "Try to get away now. Otherwise you'll get sucked into this family and never get out again."

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Really?" she took another puff. " Everyone in this room ignored it when he grabbed you by the arm like that. No one wants to see, how he just objectify you. I mean really Catwoman? As if you've seen those films."

The blonde remained silent. She was right.

"I made the same mistake and got caught up in his games and now look at me. I'm in a loveless relationship for twenty years." With a flick, the cigarette flew off the balcony. "You may have convinced everyone here that you too are cold and unfeeling. But I see what you really are."

She looked at her. "And what is that?"

" You, Siobhan Serpent, are a hopeless romantic who suppresses her feelings and thinks she deserves nothing better."

" Maybe I don't deserve anything better..."

The redhead came closer. "Everyone deserves better than that. It's too late for me. Only a miracle can save me. But you can still run. Do it."

With that, she left her.

Siobhan looked out over the dark city before her. A miracle. She needed that too
