Autumn tapped away on her mobile phone. She was sitting in the hospital waiting room, Marjorie was already being treated. The events were still haunting her.

"Aut!" Reece came towards her with quick steps. "What's happened?"

"Marjorie had a.... migraine attack. She was feeling really bad, that's why I brought her here. " she said. It wasn't her job to tell him the truth. That was in Marjorie's hands.

Reece looked around, "Is she being treated? Can I see her?"

Autumn shook her head.

Her brother sat down next to her. "Thanks Aut. She's had this headache for weeks. But never wanted to see a doctor..."

Autumn gritted her teeth. She hated lying to him like that. "Yes, of course, no problem... You're here now, so I'll go home."

Reece nodded. "Of course, you've had a long day. Thanks Aut and have a good night."

Autumn sat down in her car. What an evening. She was just about to leave when her mobile phone vibrated.

"Hey my love, I'll be back tomorrow. Are you free? Can we talk on the phone?" wrote Winter.

"I'm looking forward to it, my sweet. Unfortunately I'm a bit indisposed. Marjorie had to go to the hospital. Don't worry, I'll tell you why when you're back. In any case, I'm still there too. I don't know how long it will take."

"Oh ok, tell her get well soon. I'll be in touch. I love you."

Two lies in one day. Autumn exhaled loudly. She didn't want to talk to anyone now. She just wanted to go home.

Autumn sat on her couch. The silence around her soothed her, well and the alcohol. She didn't need wine today, she needed something stronger. Normally the brandy was confined to her flask, but right now she was drinking it straight from the bottle.

The thing with Marjorie was supposed to be a wake-up call for her. But she didn't want to think about that now. She just wanted to numb her mind.

A loud ringing echoed through the living room. Autumn stirred. It took her a moment to realise where she was. Her senses weren't there yet. She could feel her head and her stomach acid rising.

Where was that annoying sound coming from?

Her mobile phone was lying on the table next to the empty brandy bottle.

"Hello?" her voice sounded raspy.

"Hey, it's just me, Marjorie."

Autumn sat up. She looked for her glasses.

"I just wanted to thank you. That could have really backfired yesterday..... How are you?" Marjorie's voice was also a little rough.

Autumn had now found her glasses on the floor in front of her. "Fine, thank you. Are you back home?"

"Yes, I was discharged early this morning. They almost wanted to pump my stomach, but thanks to you I was spared that...."

"As I said, no problem."

"I spoke to the doctor yesterday about my.... problem... He suggested a few things."

Autumn's gaze settled on the empty brandy bottle. "Good, now you know what you can do."

"Yes, exactly... There's a therapy group in the city. For people with addiction problems of all kinds. I thought that would be a good thing. Maybe we could both go there?" Marjorie now sounded unsure. She knew how sensitive the Knight siblings were to the subject of therapy.
