"I don't understand why we're having a board meeting now of all times, the merger isn't for another three weeks," muttered Mia, annoyed.

"You're a member and you're collecting the extra money, so stop complaining," said Reece, who wasn't thrilled to see his father either.

Autumn hadn't spoken the whole time, she was typing on her laptop. She was also anything but thrilled to see Roger. The dinner she had with him and Winter was still bothering her.

The office door opened and Roger entered with Siobhan and Janice. They also took a seat at the table.

Marjorie was writing this week's newsletter. Engrossed in her thoughts, she typed away.

Charlotte was just leaving the house. She was lucky to be able to start work a little later today and actually wanted to spend the extra time with Mia. But the redhead had to go to a meeting. Charlotte wasn't in the Knight Nursery today either, but in the Sister Nursery.

Winter was still sitting at the kitchen table at home, drinking coffee, and reading the newspaper. He also had a later shift today. He wondered whether he should go out for dinner with Autumn tonight. His wife will be in a bad mood after the meeting.

"Marjorie." Agatha was standing at the office door. "These two gentlemen want to talk to you."

Two policemen entered the office.

Charlotte had just pulled into the Sister Nursery car park and got out of the car. When a police car pulled up beside her.

"Mrs Charlotte Lancaster," said one of the policemen sternly.

Winter was putting on his jacket, picked up his bag, and opened the door. There were two policemen in front of him, one of whom seemed to be about to ring the bell.

"Oh, hello," said Winter in surprise.

"Are you Mr Winter Fortune-Knight?"

Marjorie looked in disbelief at the document handed to her by one of the policemen.

"An arrest warrant?"

"Mrs Van Gould, you are accused of fraud in several cases. Unfortunately, we have to take you with us."

"That's a misunderstanding," said Marjorie desperately.

But a policeman was already removing his handcuffs from his belt. "Please turn round."

Marjorie decided to simply do as she was told. The cold steel closed around her wrists.

"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to have a defence lawyer present at any interrogation. If you can not afford a defence lawyer, one will be provided for you. Do you understand that?" said the policeman.

Mia looked around, bored. These meetings were always hell. She really only did it for the money. Roger just said one irrelevant thing after another, not really revealing anything about the merger.

Siobhan took notes about the meeting. Autumn was also typing everything that was said on her laptop. Reece was sitting next to her, leaning back and relaxing. Only Janice had a permanent grin on her lips, which Mia didn't like.

Suddenly, Autumn and Reece's mobile phones rang at the same time.

The two siblings quickly looked at the display to see if it was anything important.

"Hello," said Autumn.

"Autumn, it's Sorscha. Is Reece around?"

"Yes, what's going on?"

"Well, the police have just been here and arrested, Marjorie. I have no idea why."

"Yeah, what's up." said Reece. He had seen on the display that his nursery was calling.

"Hey Reecey, it's Deliah. Sorry to bother you, I meant to call Mia. But I don't have her number."

" Um, ok?"

" Well, why I'm calling. I've just seen the police arrest Charlotte in the car park."

"What!" shouted Reece.

Autumn grabbed her brother's arm and handed him her phone. "You should hear this," she said sternly.

Reece decided to do the same, but with Mia.

Mia looked at him questioningly. " Mia, this is really important, listen to it."

Autumn immediately glanced at her father and saw a slight grin. She knew it was his doing.

Mia was beside herself, she didn't let Deliah repeat herself properly before she had already hung up and jumped up from her chair. Reece also jumped up.

The three of them left the conference room head over heels. Autumn had a bad feeling, after she got her phone back. She tried to call Winter, but only got a voicemail.

After what had happened, she could guess where he was.

Mia sped off in her car. Reece and Autumn drove together, on the way to the police station she called her lawyer. They would certainly need him.
