The black Mercedes stopped in the car park in front of the Nursery and Siobhan got out, not a second later. It was Monday and she was here like every week to see what was going on.

And of course to see Vivian, but as soon as she got out of the car, she could see who was already waiting for her at the front door. Siobhan took a deep breath and walked towards the building, with her head held high.

The sweet smell of cinnamon and smoke filled the air.

"Smoking is forbidden on Nursery grounds," the blonde spoke in a serious voice.

The woman opposite giggled softly and provocatively took another puff, the smoke drifting in Siobhan's direction.

"Don't be so uptight, Siobhan."

"What are you doing here?"

Janice grinned and took another puff, the blonde watching her closely. "I'm supposed to meet Marjorie for the upcoming merger, and luckily for me, everyone from the Nursery Softballteam is here today," she pointed to the car park. Where not only Siobhan's car was parked, but also Reece's and Mia's.

"Whatever..." Siobhan muttered, giving Janice one last critical look, noticing that her knuckles were bruised on her right hand. But she thought nothing more of it and entered the building.

Siobhan walked along the corridor until she stood in front of the office, to her surprise it was empty. She furrowed her eyebrows and went to the reception desk to ask Agatha.

The older woman only replied with a cut 'conference room' , so the blonde made her way there.

In the corridor outside the Toddler room, she bumped into Vivian, who had just come out. When the nurse saw Siobhan, she immediately looked down.

"Viv? Are you all right?" Siobhan asked worriedly.

Viviam slowly raised her eyes and Siobhan became shocked. She had a black eye with a small cut on her cheek.

The blonde stepped up to her and wanted to take her arm, but Vivian backed away.

"What happened?"

" Nothing..." Vivian mumbled, unable to keep eye contact with the blonde. " Bon.... Siobhan, about our next meeting. I'm afraid I'm going to have to cancel it until further notice."

Siobhan searched desperately for eye contact to perhaps find an answer there. But Vivian avoided her gaze. "Viv, what happened, please talk to me..."

"I'm sorry, please stay safe." With that, the black-haired woman quickly stormed off.

When Vivian emerged from the building, she had to take a deep breath. The shock from yesterday was still in her bones.

"Good morning, Viv." A soft but haunting voice sounded next to her, which Vivian recognised all too well.

She looked at Janice, who was still standing next to the front door, smoking. She threw her cigarette on the floor and stepped towards her.

Janice came dangerously close to her, but instead of reaching for the nurse, she reached for the door handle. "Have a nice day, Viv," she said and disappeared into the building.

Vivian's blood ran cold. She really wanted to help Siobhan, not only because she was her friend, but also because she had developed feelings for the blonde. But she couldn't risk her life or the life of her son.

Janice knew where to find the others. She simply entered the conference room without even knocking.

"What a surprise, all the important people are already here."

Siobhan was the first to scowl at her.

Autumn, who was leaning against the wall, just raised her eyebrow.

Reece was not far from his sister, he had one hand on Marjorie's shoulder. Who sat at the large table in the centre of the room.

Mia and Charlotte were also at the table. The brunette looked up, startled. Janice really was the last person she needed right now.

Janice grinned and stepped deeper into the room. "Nice to see you again, Charlotte." She did this on purpose. Hoping to make Charlotte's credibility look even worse.

But the group in the room was not impressed and remained silent. Even though the anger was written all over Mia's face, she was on the verge of jumping over the table to attack Janice.

"Stop playing games. We know why you're here," Autumn said dryly.

"Good, then I don't have to explain any more. So..." she let her gaze wander round the people in the room. "... I know everyone here except you." Her gaze stopped at Marjorie. ".. So you're the legendary Marjorie Van Gould. I've heard so much about you."

Marjorie crossed her arms. "I've heard a lot about you too... Janice Redmare."

"Well, I have to say, it's heart-warming how you've welcomed Charlotte back into your little team. Even got yourself a Cheerleader. " she grinned at Siobhan. "Really nice to see. I only hope this wasn't a bad decision. As they say, once a liar always a liar."

Charlotte became smaller on the chair and began to play nervously with her fingers.

Janice was far from finished with her game. "I will be very happy to work with you all soon. Well, maybe not all." she gave Marjorie a mocking look. " I know when overstaying my welcome. But I'll see you all soon at the next board meeting. Except for you, of course, Marjorie." She grinned one last time and then left the room again.

"That bitch!" Mia cursed.

"Stay calm Mia, we have the upper hand. At the next meeting, we'll vote my father out once and for all, and then Janice straight away. ", said Autumn.

"We can count on your vote too, can't we Siobhan?" asked Reece cautiously.

The blonde shook her head. "I can't take the risk of something worse happening to someone very important to me. I'm sorry."

"Well, that's understandable. But we have enough votes as it is. Charlotte, I can't quite forgive you yet, I hope you understand. But we really need your help now," said Marjorie.

Charlotte sighed loudly. " I understand... You can definitely count on my vote."
