There was a lot of talking over the next few days. Which was unusual for Mia, she wasn't the kind of person who liked to talk, she preferred to bottle everything up. Charlotte seemed to have done the same over the last few years. But the brunette seemed to be doing a little better, and in Mia's eyes, it was time for an overdue visit.

Charlotte chewed her fingernails nervously.

" Sweetheart, listen, everything will be fine. " she took her hand.

" What if they don't want to see me?"

" They do. Believe me, and now go. I'll will get you later, just write to me." She smiled at her and gave her a kiss on your hand.

Charlotte took a deep breath before getting out of the car. She hadn't even walked all the way up the driveway of her former home, when door opened and a man stepped out.

Charlotte's ex-husband, he quickly ran to her and hugged her.

Mia watched them from her car. They didn't look like two people who were once married, but more like old friends.

Not a second later, two girls appeared at the front door. They must be around ten and seven.

They ran towards their mum and threw their arms around her. Charlotte held her children tight.

While her ex-husband looked at Mia. The two made brief eye contact. Mia nodded to him and then drove off in the car.

Mia had always wished that for herself. That her father would return. But this would never happen and it took her a long time to realise that her search for him was also in vain. She didn't need to expect anything more from Roger either. He probably never really had any information.

Mia now took the opportunity to do some shopping. The supplies in her flat were running low.

As she walked through the supermarket, she realised how close-knit this part of London actually was. It was like a small town in a metropolis. She saw some of the parents she knew from her time as a deputy. Mia wanted to finish her shopping quickly and go home.

As she was loading her things into the boot of the car park.

Two women, who stood next an other car where talking. Mia didn't listen. But suddenly she noticed whispering coming from the direction of the women.

She concentrated and could make out a few snatches of words.

" If I tell you that's her..."

" Who? What do you mean?"

" I heard that our kindergarten teacher, Charlotte, left her husband..... for a woman... and I'm sure that's her..."

"What really? That's scandalous..."

" Yes, and she's been gone for months, just left the children with her ex.... what a disgrace..."

Mia slammed the boot shut and gave them both a dark look.

On the way home, she clutched the steering wheel tightly. How she hated such gossip. How dare they make such judgements.

After she had put all the shopping away, she decided to call Reece. He is probably worried.

Mia heard the man's relief on the phone, when she told him that Charlotte was safe and is visiting her children at the moment.

" Marjorie blames herself endlessly..."

" Good."

" Mia! Please try to talk to Charlotte. A reconciliation would do them both good..."

" All right. I'll talk to her..."

When Mia picked Charlotte up again hours later, the brunette had a smile on her face and her eyes where shining again.

After dinner, the two of them lay together on the couch. Charlotte lay on Mia's chest.

" Sweetheart... I spoke to Reece today..."

Mia noticed Charlotte exhaling loudly.

"Do you want to see Marjorie again?"

Charlotte just nodded.

The redhead hugged her tightly. Charlotte slowly lifted her head. The two held eye contact for a while. Charlotte came a little closer to her.

Their lips touched very carefully.
