Mia walked past the two of them, with her head bowed. Her heart grew heavier with every step. In the living room, she couldn't take it no more and collapsed.

"I'm so sorry!" she managed to say, barely audible between her tears.
"I'm so sorry I wasn't there when you needed me...."

She knelt on the floor and wept pitifully, tears dripping on the ground. She didn't expect an answer.

" Why?"

Mia looked up, there at the window, now bound to a wheelchair, was the love of her life. Or what was left of it. Now she was a shadow of her former self.

"It was my fault... I couldn't face you."

Charlotte looked on coldly, no emotion, face blank.
"No Amelia, it wasn't your fault. But how could you just run away when I was fighting for my life? I thought you loved me."

" i... I... couldn't. It was all too much... you were in a coma... I didn't know if you would make it... My guilt ate me up." Mia broke down more and more in front of her.

"Guilt?! Do you know what it feels like, when you wake up and the person you love so much is just gone? I needed you and you weren't there!" Charlotte raised her voice.

In all the months she had been recovering from the serious accident. She wasn't able to feel anything, she was so empty. Not just physically hurt, but emotionally too.

"So you're here to apologise?" Charlotte couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculousness of the whole situation.

" Yes..." Mia whispered.

" Well I don't forgive you!"

"What?". In the hallucinations that had haunted Mia since the accident, Charlotte was still the gentle, loving and understanding person.

But this person no longer existed. She died in the wreck of the car.

" No. I will never forgive you, for what you did to me! And now get out!"

Mia looked at her in despair. She wanted to beg for forgiveness, but the words stuck in her throat. Charlotte continued to stare at her with a hateful look. The love the two of them shared was gone.

Autumn appeared behind Mia in the living room, she had heard the conversation between them from the corridor.

"Come on, Mia," she said in a gentle tone, placing her hands on the redhead's shoulders.

Marjorie, on the other hand, walked past them to stand next to Charlotte. She crossed her arms.

"Go now, Mia, and don't come back!" the manager hissed.

Autumm gave her a dirty look. Did Marjorie have to beat her down even more, when Mia was already down.

"Thanks for dropping me off."

Autumn looked next to her. The woman, who was like a big sister to her once. Was gone. Broken.

" Mia...I'm so sorry...about how that just went.... But I'm sure Charlotte will forgive you eventually. "

" No..... but hey... it's payback, right?"

The words left the younger woman.

" I heard you, when Reece drove me to your place. But it's okay. It was the truth."

" Mia... I."

But the redhead got out of the car and disappeared into her flat.

Autumn sighed at how much she regretted what she had said.
