When Marjorie entered the Nursery, it was early in the morning and no one else was here yet.
She went into her office, but to her surprise saw someone in the deputy manager's seat.
"Siobhan? What are you doing here?"
The blonde looked up. "I just wanted to pop in."
Marjorie looked at her questioningly, but then sat down in her seat and started to boot up the PC.
"I know what you're planning..."
Marjorie felt an oppressive feeling in her chest. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Siobhan raised her eyebrow." Really? Then tell me why important documents are missing from Roger's safe."
The manager felt her pulse quicken. "I don't know. Maybe he needs better security."
Siobhan tapped her fingernails on the table, the sound was the only thing echoing through the room.
The tension was so thick you could cut through it.
" And even so. Roger anchored himself so firmly as the owner. That he can't be knocked off his perch. No matter what we do...". It was hopeless. As she searched through the documents with Reece and Autumn. They realised how difficult it would be to cut Roger off.
The blonde sitting opposite her tilted her head slightly.
"Roger has too much power..." whispered Marjorie.
"Power is a strang thing, Marjorie. Do you want to hear a riddle?"
Marjorie looked at her questioningly. What was the blonde talking about? "Why? Are you gonna tell me one?"
Siobhan smiled slightly. "There in a room, are sitting three powerful People. A king, who is cruel and hated by everyone. A Poet, who lost his tongue and no longer speaks his mind. And a Knight, who lost her sword and her heart," she stopped briefly and looked at Marjorie.
"Between them stands an Assassin dressed in all red. Who ones shared great sibling love with the Poet and the Knight, and hates the King. But the King wants to destroy the Poet and the Knight. And there who also ones shared great love hate each other now to, because of the King."Marjorie listened to her intently.
"Now each of them bids the Assassin to kill the other two. Who lives? Who dies?"
Marjorie had to think for a moment. "Depends on the Assassin."
"Does it? She wants no crown, no poems, or to be a Knight. She only wants to survive and to protect her Mother."
Marjorie was getting impatient." But she's an Assassin! And holds the power of live and death"
Siobhan laughed lightly. She was intrigued by the other woman's train of thought. "But if the Assassin holds all the power. Why do you all pretend the king has it? When those dead flowers were laid on the doorstep on prom night, who was really responsible? Roger? Mia? Or something else?"
Marjorie leaned back in her chair and put her hand on her chin. "I don't like riddles." she mumbled.
But Siobhan continued. "Power is there where people believe it is. It's a trick, a shadow on the wall, and even a small Nursery Manager can cast a very large shadow." With that, Siobhan stood up. "So don't give up..."
The blonde left the office, leaving a bewildered Marjorie behind.
