The evacuation was underway. The sound of footsteps echoed and never seemed to stop as the huge population was being evacuated. It was so quiet...too quiet...because everyone was tense. They knew the queen was going to fall protecting them... And they weren't happy about that.
Hope refused to leave, holding her necklace tightly. She had managed to sneak away from the group and now she was hidden in a closet, watching her mother and waiting for Midnight.
Suddenly, it became as dark as night. Raina took a breath and lit up the room she was in. It didn't take long for the doors to the throne room to be broken down.
Midnight strode in and smirked. "Hello, Raina. My, my... It's been a while."
Raina crossed her arms. "Midnight, leave my kingdom or I will use my power as beacon to-"
"Your power as beacon?" Midnight laughed. "You mean the power I've been draining from you? You aren't strong enough to stop me."
"Maybe, maybe not. But I'll protect my people from you as long as I'm able," Raina stated.
Midnight laughed again. "Oh Raina... So naïve... You mean the people you sent right into the hands of my army?"
Raina's eyes widened. "Chloe...Mark...Hope.. You're going to...?"
"No survivors," Midnight confirmed. "Too bad your precious little girl was nothing but a failure."
Raina's eyes narrowed, with a few tears flowing down her cheeks, and sent a strong, fast beam of light at Midnight, who took in a sharp breath when the beam hit her, stumbling back. Raina fell to her knees, beginning to cry for her family and her people. She had nothing left... That was it.
"That...was formidable..." Midnight grumbled. "But now the Luzians must end."
Midnight made a ball of darkness in her hand and threw it at the vulnerable queen. When it hit her, it exploded. Hope covered her eyes and then after, peaked out. She gasped. She was...
Midnight's head snapped towards the sound. "Thought you could hide from me, Hopey?"
Hope teared up and her eyes widened. She shuffled out of the closet and looked up at Midnight.
"Oh, you look so much like your mother, Hope..." Midnight chuckled. "I would tell you to say goodbye to your family, but... I guess it's too late for that. If only you hadn't failed your purpose, right?"
Hope ran over to her mom and began to cry. "M-mom..." She hugged her tightly. "Wake up! Help me! I can't... I'm scared!"
"She's not asleep," Midnght spoke, crossing her arms.
Hope cried harder. "No! She has to be!"
"Run..." Raina whispered. "Now, Hope."
"Mom?" Hope asked, confused.
Raina reached up and wiped her tears away. "You aren't a failure, Hope... I love you. Now run...and never come back."
Midnight rolled her eyes. "I doubt she can outrun me, Raina."
Raina coughed and stood. "Don't underestimate my daughter...or me."
Midnight started to attack again when Raina threw up a shield of light across the room, separating Midnight from herself and Hope.
"Hope...run..." Raina ordered.
"But mom...what about y-?" Hope cried.
"I said go! It's okay! Now run!" Raina ordered louder this time, wincing as her power was running on fumes.
Hope hugged her leg. "I love you..."
She then ran as fast as she could while Midnight attacked and attacked the barrier with ferocity, trying to break through.
"This doesn't matter a bit, Raina! I will find her and take her out, just like you!" Midnight screamed, throwing another ball of darkness at the barrier.
Raina chuckled. "Good luck with that."
She felt lights began to go out...her people... She squeezed her eyes shut, frowning. But Hope... Some good friends were ready to pick her up. Once she was far enough away, Raina relaxed a bit. Suddenly, a spike of pain hit her and the barrier weakened. Midnight broke through then finished her off. Her eyes were as dark as night. She would track down that child...

Close friends of Raina had rescued the 4 year old. On the way out, Hope grabbed her mother's journal, holding it closely. The child hadn't spoken a word, only crying. The king and queen exchanged a look, frowning. This would be difficult to fix... How do you fix a child who lost everyone she loved and had ever known? How would you win that child's trust? Was this little girl... Truly the last Luzian?
