Rylee had gotten up early, writing quietly. Dayton, Matthew, Rose, and DJ were asleep. She had a lot to write about... She set down her pen and closed her eyes, taking a breath. She felt so much. Robert, her grandpa, was still missing. Nate promised to get him back, but clearly he didn't know how. She set down her pen and looked down, staring at her power journal. She had learned so much... She shut the notebook and stood, turning around to see a guy staring at her intensely.
"You have so much to share with the world, just like your sister... Why don't you do anything about it? It's selfish. It's not fair to everyone that you know the answers to our questions and you refuse to share them!" he spoke.
Rylee frowned. "I... I'm sorry. I should share it. But... I don't know how to do it best... And... And they mean nothing without context to individuals."
"And so many people die... Why can't you stop sickness? Eradicate diseases from the world? You are so capable and strong, yet you sit here - a housewife - and waste away in the shadow of your husband!" he scowled. "What ever happened to the world changer?"
"Eric... I know you're disappointed-" Rylee began.
"I am. I really am, Rylee. What kind of example does that set for Becca? For your children? I always expected great things of you. I guess I was wrong."
Rylee frowned and lowered her head. "How am I supposed to save the world...if the world doesn't even trust me...?"
"If you cared enough... You'd find a way," Eric said before walking out.
Rylee fell to her knees and stared at the floor. Her hair blocked her face as she just sat there quietly, pondering his words. She was a failure... She closed her eyes and felt lights go out and dim all around. No... She began to sob silently, feeling as if he casted the weight of the world on her shoulders. She just sat in the floor, sobbing quietly and trying not to wake up anyone. This was the weight of being her... The burden she owed the world. But everytime she thought of it, it made her cry. She didn't want to leave...
