Ginger had the two giggly twins in their seats in the shopping cart. She had to get grocceries and she didn't think she should go over or ask for help for a while because of what happened to Nina. So she struggled through taking care of the twins alone. Kari had just fallen asleep as she grabbed some cereal and put it in the cart. She yawned and kept walking through the store.
Suddenly, she noticed Ray with some friends, loading the cart with a bunch of soda and junkfood. She tried to back away, but a friend noticed and nudged him. Ray stsrted to walk over and Ginger turned and pushed the cart away quickly.
"Ginger, wait!" Ray called.
Ginger reached the end of the aisle and was blocked. Before she could get through, Ray caught up.
Ginger stood inbetween Ray and the twins, eyes widened. "W-what do you want...?"
"Ginger, please... Relax..." Ray reassured her, slowly walking closer.
Ginger backed away closer to the twins and teared up. "Leave me alone."
Ray stopped and frowned. "Can I at least see them...?"
Ginger hesitated, but moved to the side barely. "...Rex and Kari..."
Ray smiled and walked over, kissing both of their heads. "They're adorable..."
Rex giggled, but Kari was still asleep. Ginger watched miserably, just wanting to get away from him.
Ray looked at her and walked over in front of her, hugging her closely and kissing her forehead. "I'm so sorry, Ginger..."
Ginger started to reply - maybe even hug back - but then...
"Yo! Ray! You're gonna be late for Netflix and Chill with Mandy!" one of his friends called.
Ginger pushed him away, tears in her eyes, and rolled her cart away with the twins inside. Ray shot a glare at the friend and he smiled sheepishly. Ray just sighed and he and his friends walked off. Ginger touched her forehead where he kissed it then rubbed it with her shirt sleeve vigorously, still crying. Rex babbled and patted her arm reassuringly.
Ginger smiled slightly. "Thanks buddy..."
Ginger payed then took everything home. She wiped her tears away as she drove. She felt trapped. She loved her children, but she felt a hole in her heart where Ray used to be. She put the twins to bed and then cried in her room. She felt just as alone as when she first got there... But this time, she didn't have any hope to reassure her.
