Alyssa was pushing Carson in his stroller, walking around town. Finally, she just sighed and sat down, picking him up and holding him.
"I love you, Carson..." Alyssa said quietly, hugging him closely. "Even if I married someone who doesn't love me, I'm glad I at least got you out of it."
She kissed his head, smiling slightly. Carson babbled back, giggling. She laughed and set him back down in his stroller.
"You're too cute," Alyssa smiled, continuing to walk. "We were alone when you first came into the world and we're alone now... What's the difference? We're fine without anyone else, aren't we?"
She waited, but he was quiet. She stopped and looked at him to see him asleep. She laughed and kept walking.
"I'll take that as a yes," Alyssa said. "...You know, I always wanted to be happy. To have a happily ever after where my husband and I were so close and in love that nothing else really mattered... A romance where we spent time together and laughed and watched corny movies... You know, when I first met your dad, I thought he was kinda cute. But I still didn't want to marry him... It wasn't until he took me on a horseback ride with him to the lake that I really actually liked him... My family was making me marry him, so I was angry. I wanted real love... We liked each other, so I finally told him I was kind of sad I'd never be proposed to... I didn't expect him to do anything about it, you know? But then he took me near the edge of the lake and proposed for real. That was the happiest memory I ever had... The wedding was alright and being married was pretty good at first. Then I found out I was going to be a mom. We were both so excited, but since I was so needy and he was so busy... We just kinda spent less time together... I know it's not fair to be mad. I know he's busy, you know? My needs and wants mean nothing compared to the kingdom's... I'm nothing compared to his important duties... But I missed the Marcus I fell in love with... The one who spent time with me. The one who made me feel...special and loved..." she trailed off and then continued, "Anyway, I was going to visit your Aunt Jenna when it was just starting to snow. That's when you decided you finally wanted to come out... But the snow was so bad, your dad couldn't make it to the hospital in time... I had you all alone... And it was pretty scary. I'm sure he tried to get there in time, but... I guess I was kind of disappointed in him, you know? That was kind of the biggest deal ever in my life. He was supposed to be there to be supportive and loving... Because it was hard, Carson... And to be honest, I was a little scared. But in the end, I had held you, taken a nap, and I was in the lobby waiting while holding you by the time he showed up..." She slowed her walking pace, sighing. "I guess I'm still kind of mad about that... I wasn't at first... He apologized and we had so much fun hanging out with our sweet little boy... Then he got busy or something, I guess. Your dad is king and... Well, I guess one day you'll be the next king. Kings have such an important job and what they do is very, very important. But please... Just remember to make time for your family, because they should be the most important people to you..." She frowned. "You're everything to me, Carson. I'm so thankful to be your mom. You're the only thing keeping me happy anymore... I love you so much."
She smiled slightly as she walked back inside the castle. She picked Carson up out of his stroller and put it by the door. She walked upstairs to the baby's room and set Carson down in his crib.
"I love you, Carson," Alyssa said quietly.
She placed a hand on his cheek and smiled down at him for a few moments before walking out.

Alyssa had the servants move her things to another room close to Carson's. She doubted he would notice anyways. The servants seemed a bit surprised, but she didn't say anything. She was tired of being ignored, so she was moving on. Of course, inwardly, she still hoped that Marcus would change and finally pay her some attention, but she definitely wasn't holding her breath.

Alyssa sighed and sat on her couch, watching TV. She wore pajamas, fuzzy socks, and a fuzzy, warm robe. Maybe it wasn't the most exciting thing, but she definitely didn't want to go outside. It was freezing. It was also the first snow since Carson was born-

Her train of thought shifted and she grinned. Carson's first snow! She jumped up and got changed into snow clothes and then went to get Carson changed too. She picked him up and walked outside.
"Look, Carson! It's snowing," Alyssa said, smiling.
Carson looked around with wide eyes, making a small noise.
Alyssa laughed and slowly set him down in the snow.
Carson looked around and patted the snow with his gloved hands, giggling. Alyssa laughed and sat beside him, also patting the snow. Mother and son played and played until Alyssa took him inside for a warm bath. Carson cried, not wanting to go inside, but got over it when he got to play with his bath toys. She then put him in his crib for a nap once she was sure he was warmed up.

Alyssa started to walk to her room when she realized she left her phone outside. She hurried downstairs and walked outside, shivering slightly since she didn't have all of her snow gear on anymore. She saw her phone on the other side of the yard and hurried over to go get it.

Alyssa didn't know much about ice or snow except that it was cold. Being raised in a desert, she was clueless. So she ran over, cold, and slipped on the ice, falling onto the road part leading to the garages. She winced.
"Never knew snow was evil..." Alyssa commented to herself, laughing slightly.
She tried to stand, but then as soon as she put weight on her leg, it buckled and she fell again. She winced as her leg began to throb briefly before fading. She barely crawled over to her phone, grabbing it with shaking hands. She then realized the water broke her phone. It began to get dark and she curled up in a ball, shivering. Her leg - for some reason - didn't hurt anymore, but she couldn't move it.

Alyssa just lied there in the snow for an hour, shivering. She only had on jeans and a light sweater because she didn't expect to be outside long. She was slowly freezing, her teeth chattering and body shaking.

Finally, a servant came out with a shovel to clear off the road. He whistled, clearing the ice that had hurt Alyssa so easily.
"H-help..." Alyssa called weakly.
The servant stopped and looked around before noticing Alyssa. His eyes widened and he carefully walked over the ice before running over.
"Queen Alyssa!" the servant said in panic. "What happened?!"
"Fell...leg...c-cold..." Alyssa said through chattering teeth.
He frowned and picked her up, carefully walking to the entrance and kicking the door frantically to knock since his hands were full. The door opened and another servant gasped. Alyssa slightly felt the warm air from inside before she passed out.

When she woke up, she was covered in lots of blankets and she was in dry clothes. She shivered slightly at the memory... She tried to move her leg and she couldn't really, though she felt something on her leg. She peeked under the covers and saw a cast on her legs. She then sneezed a few times.
"I hate winter..." Alyssa complained, shivering and hugging the blankets closer before falling asleep again.

After the doctor had left, the King was informed by a note from the doctor stating Alyssa had hypothermia and a broken leg.
