There was a memory Rylee had buried so deeply... A person she loved and trusted and opened her mind to... She denied it ever happening and to stop her from freaking out anymore, they accepted it.
Rylee whimpered as some tests were ran on her. The worst part was... Not all of the things they researched were even assigned by Charles. The scientists did them anyways... By whatever means they saw fit.
Caleb suddenly was there (i'm avoiding why for now) and he immediately knocked literally everyone in the facility out. Except one person... He released the young, restrained brunette girl and removed the things attached to her. His eyes shone with pity and they began communicating telepathically. He felt all her insecurities and she, somehow, felt all of his thoughts, which was rare for humans.
Being a 13, he easily cradled the 10 year old in his arms, sending reassurance into her fragile, saddened mind. She eventually relaxed against him. He gently kissed her head and set her down. She didn't realize they had moved, but he was in her room. She blushed slightly and he chuckled mentally.
He reassured her until she felt her eyes get heavy.
Get some rest, Rylee.
She fell asleep.
...and she never saw him again.
