Better off Gone

Val just lied in bed, covered up with as many blankets as she could get. She shivered violently and squeezed her eyes shut, which made a tear run down her face. She had gotten so many doors shut in her life recently...

Val and Teresa were now lightyears apart... She was no longer a guardian. But she had stayed because her friends. But Arcadia much prefered her brother... As in the brother who tried to take over her planet.

Chloe had gotten closer with Arc when she was gone. That time, in the earth...quiet... Struggling and knowing she couldn't leave until the time was right... Until Ender stopped being an idiot. But while she was gone, all her relationships had crumbled. Ender was dating Arc, Chloe loved Arc... And that left her just...there. All these people... She knew life didn't stop just because she wasn't there... But she wished she was still part of their world the same way she used to be.

And Hayes... She liked him immediately. Val tried so hard to get close to him... She had finally met someone who understood her struggle. But then when Sadia came back, she couldn't get in the middle of that, even though part of her wished she'd be someone's priority for once... But she decided to let them be... After all, Sadia had been there first. And she knew they loved each other... She hoped they were happy.

Val flickered between being made of light and being normal, taking deep breaths. Being normal was hard for her body to adjust to...

She thought of all the friendships and relationships she had seen... And her eyes filled with tears. She chose to stay on a world where she was no longer relevant... She'd never be any of her new friends' priority... She no longer was the favorite of Chloe Prince... Arc had Sadia back...

Val paused, thinking about how she had brought more pain upon this world than Ender ever did. She had given earth people powers... They were put in a facility because of her... She almost destroyed Julia by making her half alien by accident... Chloe's family tried to find powered children to sell off. When she went into the earth, her body having rybrospon in it caused the Empire to almost try to invade. Her sister had been forced to attack earth and them... The Kingdom of Haven was involved. She had caused much more trouble than she was worth...

If there was anyone who should have left, it was her. Earth would be better off without an ex-guardian and rybrospon manipulator. She couldn't feel anything anymore. She felt numb - physically and emotionally, she couldn't use powers, and she couldn't stay awake. She just faded into sleep...
