Today, I thought it'd be interesting to look at the original parents with powered kids' reaction to their kids powers - which were new and crazy. So this is part one of the series. ^-^

Casey and Rylee

Quinn sighed. "It must not be enough... Turn it up to its highest setting."

The man hesitated, but obeyed. He turned up what was actually radiation, though they thought it was rybrospon, even more.

Casey squirmed in her restraints, crying and trying to escape. She finally became still and closed her eyes.

Quinn's eyes widened. "Turn it off!!! Now!"

After weeks upon weeks, this is not how he wanted Project CASS to end... The employee obeyed and the chamber was cleared quickly. Quinn ran inside and undid her restraints, picking up the baby, who was limp.

"Cass?" Quinn whispered.

She was completely still - even breathing - and he frowned. No no no... This is never what he intended!

A dormant force a while away shone as she saved this girl and gave her a power to strengthen her brain to the potential they wanted so they would stop. If she could, she would beat up that man who did this to her... But that was for another time.

Quinn just held her closely, hoping she'd wake up and refusing to accept the truth. Suddenly, she took in a small breath. Realizing who was holding her, she began crying again.

Quinn sighed in relief. "I'm sorry, sweetheart..."

He carried her out, held her for a moment longer, then handed her off to the follow-up people. She began sobbing as they carried her off.

After a medical checkup and an intelligence test, they found she did slightly better than before. Quinn watched as they introduced her to new things and she figured them out. She seemed like she could understand books before, which was already advanced for a baby, but now she was starting to actually read them aloud... It seemed like his plan had worked! Yes!!! Finally...

"But your honor, she is my daughter!" Quinn retaliated.

"That may be so, Quinn, but I am her stepfather and she'd be better off with me taking care of her than a mad scientist trying to mutate people!" Derrick replied, glaring. "I refuse to let my stepdaughter stay with someone like you."

Quinn scowled, opening his mouth to reply.

"ORDER!" the judge yelled, banging her javel.

They both exchanged a glare then silenced.

"Sorry, your honor..." both mumbled.

"It's time for the jury to decide," the judge said.

Quinn and Derrick glanced over. Derrick looked a lot more genuine. He was so worried about his step-daughter... Being experimented on like a test subject was horrible and inhumane. Rose nonchalantly supported his decision to take it to court, not really caring either way.

Finally, the jury walked back in and sat down. Derrick took a deep breath, nervous if he would be able to save his step-daughter or not. This meant a lot to him.

Rose watched both her ex and current husband. She was pregnant with two little girls, they were thinking maybe they'd call them Brynlee and Bella, but they weren't sure yet.

"Have you reached a decision?" the judge asked.

"Yes..." one spoke, standing. "A majority voted in favor of Derrick Johnson."
