Darkness.
That's what I saw.
I was trapped...in this...in this object! I tried to bang against the wall, but it was useless. I had to guard this... But how could I?
Time passed. By this point, I managed to make this place slightly hospitable... But, alas, nothing had happened. I was alone with my thoughts for... Well... Had it been months? years? Days? Weeks? Decades? ...or perhaps even centuries. I didn't know. How could I?
Suddenly, everything began glowing. My eyes widened as I felt myself strengthen.
"What are you doing?!" I yelled at my prison.
Suddenly I saw him. A man... A human man. Adult...Robert.
He guarded us for a long, long time. The cube glowed a lot and I felt some powers being given. I sighed.
One day, I had enough of this!
"Let me out!" I yelled at my prison. "You've done your goal. You gave out powers. Now let me go!"
Silence... No reply and nothing happened.
I punched the wall a few times as hard as I could before my hands throbbed. I winced and sat down. Ow... Of course, I was almost immediately healed. Typical.
I fell asleep for a while until the necklace glowed and woke me up. A girl with long, blonde hair... She was kind and I could feel a sensitivity towards powers within her. As Richard explained the basics he knew, I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
When I was with her, I realized I could control my prison a bit. Of course, I was still trapped... But Julia and I were about to become a team...
"Hello?" I called out, hearing the echo - my only amusement. "Helloooooo?"
Julia jumped and suddenly her reply filled my prison. "Hello...? You can...talk?"
"Duh," I replied sassily. "I'm a person."
"Really...? You're a cube...?" Julia asked.
I sighed and facepalmed. "No! I'm inside. I got trapped inside this stupid cube and I can't get out."
"Oooohhh..." Julia replied. "I'm sorry..."
"It's fine... So what do you want with the cube anyways?" I asked.
"I want to protect it... And help people with powers. I mean... My brother had powers and some people took him out, so... I want to protect them..."
"Shouldn't they be able to protect themselves?" I asked. "I mean...no offense."
I could almost feel her frown. "Sometimes... Not when so many are against them."
I was silent for a moment. "I'm sorry about your brother..."
"It's okay," she sighed. "Anyways... What is this?"
"It's made of pure rybrospon," I explained. "It tends to alter DNA and give abilities... Among other things, but that's all I've seen this do so far, so..."
"Really?" Julia said, eyes widening. "So that's why my brother had powers? He got exposed to rybrospon?"
I nodded. "Yep. Exactly. You know, as the holder of this 'tiny little cube', you can do things too. Hopefully I can get this to cooperate, but you channel ideas and thoughts through the cube and you have a unique type of power."
"Like what?"
"You'll find out when you need to."- - -
Julia had learned a lot. I liked her a lot better than Robert. And now, after healing Jacob, everyone was so impressed. The little girl, Sophia... She was my favorite. But Charles... I wasn't sure if I liked him or hated him. He imprisoned what I consider my step-sisters and step-brothers.
He wasn't nearly as bad as Quinn though...
But calling our power fascinating? It's like he saw right through it and right through me. There were a few times I almost went crazy. The excuse of karate and training forced by her dad when she was kidnapped was a good excuse when she was hiding me... But now that they knew...
I couldn't help but feel proud of my power. I had my own power, yes, but stuck in here and teamed with Julia... This was different. And I liked it.
I also totally agreed with Juliven. I drove her crazy with shipping before I quieted down and watched the show. They were getting married soon... And I was totally making sure their kids got cool powers!
I grinned and enjoyed watching these people. My people. Even though they didn't know I existed before... I was excited to meet them one day. To be... To be real. Not to be a prisoner of rybrospon any longer.
And I knew it wouldn't be much longer until I served my sentence and became the living form of rybrospon. I couldn't wait...
To meet my people.
