"Please Edward, I've been practising. I visited the humans in town, I went on a shopping trip with Alice! Please don't make me go away." Quinn was currently following her mind reader of a brother around the Cullen house, much to his annoyance. It was Bellas birthday and the Cullens were throwing a party. Alice was, naturally, overjoyed with the idea. Throughout the entire summer, Quinn had been begging Edward to allow her to see Bella and naturally, he refused but now that it was her birthday, Quinn had become even more adamant.
"She isn't going to hurt her, Edward. We'll all be there" Alice informed calmly as she strung up some banners around the main room.
"Come on Edward, you're supposed to be my friend" Quinn pouted, crossing her arms like a child and he turned to her, rolling his eyes.
"Fine. But go and hunt right now and if you show even a thought of wanting to drink her blood. You have to leave" Edward sighed and then smiled as she finally grinned. "I'm sorry you haven't been able to see her Quinn. You're a newborn, most newborns don't have this level of control. I just don't want anything bad to happen to her." he sighed running and hand through his hair and Quinn smiled as she hugged him tightly.
"She's safe with me Edward" her voice was sincere and he smiled, nodding.

Quinn O'Connell stood safely in the arms of Carlisle Cullen, breathing in his heavenly scent that never failed to calm her. His fingers brushed gently up and down her arm in a soothing motion as the roar of a truck was heard beyond the window and Quinn stiffened in anticipation, flattening her dress. This was what she had been waiting all summer for and when the clumsy brunette finally came through the door with her vampire boyfriend, looking incredibly uncomfortable with all the attention, the eyes turned to Quinn.
Bella's brown eyes cast over the group, taking in all their smiles individually before her doe eyes finally came to rest on Quinn. The blonde girl was looking even more stunning than ever before and Bella found herself speechless for a moment at the sight of her, she was equally as beautiful as Rosalie and Bella watched with intrigue as Quinn cringed into Carlisle for a moment before breathing in deeply. The room seemed to stand on edge and Bella knew her heart was hammering aggressively in her chest before Quinn's stunning golden eyes finally flickered open and she smiled softly at her friend.
"Bella" Quinn had the voice of an angel but it was still vaguely recognisable as her own and the blonde stepped forward. The single step had everyone shifting on edge, Carlisle following forward. "I'm fine. I won't hurt her" she promised and continued to stride forward. "Happy Birthday Bella" she smiled and reached her arms out for her. Everyone was noticeably shocked when Quinn O'Connell accepted Bella into a warm, exceedingly gentle hug. Quinn didn't know how much force to apply so she acted as soft as possible and Bella smiled gratefully when the blonde girl finally pulled back, golden eyes sparkling. "Better?"
"Better" Edward chuckled, accepting the blonde vampire into a side hug while smiling crookedly. It was clear to the human that over the past summer, in turning, Quinn had become closer to the Cullens than ever before and she bounded easily back over to Carlisle's side as the others greeted the human. Safely back in the comfort of Carlisle's arms, she smiled happily.
"You're incredible, love" he stated sincerely, eyes brilliantly warm. "It took me decades to get the self-restraint that you have." he pressed a single kiss to her temple before going to greet Bella himself with a soft smile and handshake.
"Dating an older woman" Emmett nudged Edward. "Hot" the mind reader looked at him, clearly just fed up with the burly vampire's antics and Quinn smirked up at where they stood side by side on the stairs. Emmett winked down at her while Rosalie hit him on the arm. Alice handed Rosalie a present to give to Bella and the blonde looked like she would much rather be anywhere else as she softly handed it to the brunette.
"It's a necklace, Alice picked it out." Quinn scoffed at her answer.
"Rose. You're not supposed to tell her what it is." she sighed teasingly and the other blonde just shrugged in return as Edward passed her to wrap an arm calmly around his little human.
"This one's from Emmett." Alice continued and the biggest vampire saluted the brunette with a wink as she shook the box.
"Already installed it in your truck." he was clearly excited about it. "Finally a decent sound system for that piece of cra-"
"Hey" Bella cut in while Edward just chuckled. "Don't hate the truck."
"Open Quinn and Carlisle's!" Alice beamed and handed Bella a new gift, overly excited about being able to have a real party for the first time in a while, with someone who could actually eat cake.
"Just a little something to brighten your day" Carlisle smiled softly, wrapping his arms gently around Quinn from behind as Bella assessed the gift. Quinn relaxed into him, his scent washing over her and she hummed happily, she'd have purred if she was a cat.
That was when the disaster really struck. Only clumsy Bella Swan would get a papercut in a room full of vampires. The entire world seemed to stop spinning as the blood dropped and Quinn's eyes widened to the size of saucers, the gold plaguing with dark in under a second. Carlisle's arms tightened around her instantly, spinning her in his arms to hold her face into his neck. Carlisle had never held someone so tightly, locking her in a vice and she gripped to him as chaos ensued, her fingers tightening into his sweater as her breathing cut off completely.
"You're okay" he tried to soothe but behind her, more drama unfolded. A crash was heard as Bella was flung across the room and now, Quinn wasn't the most dangerous vampire in the room, Jasper was. He went savage in a second and all arms were flying in an attempt to constrain him. In three seconds, the air of the party had completely changed and Carlisle's grip lapsed in shock as he moved to wrap his arms tightly around Jasper, the vampire snapping and struggling.
Quinn stood still for a long moment, hauntingly as she watched fresh blood trickle down Bella's arm and the brunette looked up into her friends pitch-black eyes in horror. That was when Quinn moved, but not in the direction everyone expected. In a second, she was eye-to-eye with Jasper.
"Stop" and somehow, impossibly, he did. Just like that, as if something had been switched in his brain, he wasn't struggling now. He just stood there. "You don't want to hurt Bella" her voice was different now, almost hauntingly static and everyone was washed with a state of shock as Jasper stood transfixed on his newest sister.
"I don't want to hurt Bella" his voice was monotone as he replied to Quinn, the darkness instantly ebbing from his eyes and returning them to their glorious gold. In the next second, he snapped out of it and looked around in shock, guiltily. But it didn't matter that he was no longer fighting because Bella remained bleeding out on the carpet in a room full of vampires, individually, their eyes turned to her.
"Get out of here, all of you. Go and hunt" Carlisle demanded as he joined Bella's side. For a brief moment, his eyes locked with Quinns in silent awe of her before he turned back to the bleeding human. "Now" and it was just like that, they flashed easily from the room and away to somewhere they could be safe. Far away from Bella.
