The main room of the Cullen mansion was suspended in waiting but they were blissfully content with the silence that drowned them, in the chaos of the past few weeks- only this innocent emptiness could act as calm. It was when they finally heard the approaching footsteps outside that Quinn and Jacob made their way slowly down the front steps. It had been an interesting week for them all, full of developments but this moment would be the defining moment of it all.
Quinn couldn't help but smirk as her eyes scanned over the tattered clothes that Bella wore, even in such rags she looked utterly stunning, and it was clear to see that her first hunt went well. Bella's brilliant red eyes glittered like a freshly bloomed rose as they fell upon her best friend, and Jacob smiled uncomfortably in return.
"You're still here" the second she said it, Quinn became aware of the smirk on Edward's lips. He had been waiting three days to see how his beautiful wife would react to the wolves most recent development and the Cullen coven- in their natural jokering manner- had placed bets.
"So are you" Jacob approached them but Quinn didn't move from her place on the porch. Bella's red eyes trailed along the earth to the stunning blonde who was impossibly more beautiful with Bellas new eyes, and they exchanged a simple smile. It was the only reunion they needed. "I didn't expect you to seem so... You" the wolf decided and Quinn scoffed with an eye roll, tapping a simple tune with her pale fingers into the railing- Aware of an impatient Goddaughter beyond the glass. "Except for the creepy eyes"
"I would-" Bella raised her hand before her and Edward and Quinn exchanged a silent expression. "- keep your distance" she encouraged as Jacob paced toward her calmly. "For now."
"It's safer for the baby to see how you do with me first" the wolf returned and Quinn had to turn away to hide her bright grin from them, she was at risk of revealing the secret with her sarky comments. "Shut up Q"
"Q?" Bella scoffed, looking up at Edward who just sent her a crooked smile.
"It seems Quinn has a way with wolves" Edward informed, Quinn's allegiance with the wolves had grown from strength to strength over the past few days- Emmett suspected mind control but truly, the wolves just trusted her. The same allegiance would form between them and Carlisle- If he would allow such things.
"You may call me 'Cesar the dog whisperer'" she winked and Jacob scoffed, rolling his eyes in distaste.
"And since when did you care about Renesmee?" Bella got back to the situation at hand with intensity and Quinn sighed as she watched them intently, curious. Jacob swallowed deeply, eyes flickering over to Edward who returned with the slightest shake of the head. It was a sure sign that Bella hadn't yet been filled in on such things. However, Quinn could see that from the moment Bella had arrived- she was much too calm to have heard of her best friends imprinting.
"Alright" Jacob completely ignored the subject, as if it was irrelevant. "Take a whiff" when he said that, Quinn couldn't help but scrunch her nose up.
"I'm not sure you want to Bells" she giggled, seeing Bella grin and Edward chuckle though Jacob turned to her with a glare, she knew it was half-hearted.
"Are you causing trouble?" The voice of Carlisle breathed against her neck as he suddenly appeared and she giggled at the sensation as she slouched backwards into his chest, allowing his arms to shroud her where they stood.
"Only slightly"
"Slightly" Carlisle repeated softly with a small chuckle as he peppered a kiss on her temple and flicked his gaze back over to the grouping at the treeline. Bella breathed in deeply for a moment before raising her eyebrows.
"Well I can see what everyone's been talking about" she started and there was a resounding laugh of amusement. "Jake, you really do stink" even Jacob released a chuckle at that because it was the best reaction they could have hoped for. Edwards arm wrapped around Bella and pulled her into his side affectionately, in pride and Jacob smiled.
"You guys, really look great together." he returned and Bella looked bemused for a second though nobody did anything to ebb that from her mind. The time would come where the truth was released but for now, it was time for a long-awaited reunion. Jacob hopped up the stairs to return to his imprints side while Carlisle and Quinn exchanged a golden glance. Everything felt as though it had finally met a balance.
"Wanna come meet our daughter?" Edward needlessly questioned his wife as Quinn and Carlisle stepped easily over the threshold, the sound of the birds chirping following them in through the open door.
