Dublin Trinity College Library was breathtaking and as Carlisle Cullen and Quinn O'Connell walked the many shelves together, she couldn't help but think of how perfectly the room portrayed Carlisle himself. His face was one of pure childish doe-eyed glee despite how many times he had been there and he took in each book as if it was a prized ancient artefact. Quinn wished she could see that expression on his face every day.
"Carlisle" the person they had come to see rounded a corner with a bright beam. It was clear that this was the friend Carlisle had spoken so much about purely by the man's vampire status and excitement at seeing the doctor. They hugged as if they were brothers who hadn't seen one another in years and she supposed that in a way, they were.
"Arthur" Carlisle seemed so young in his excitement and Quinn marvelled in the joy he expressed. "It is so good to see you, old friend."
"You must meet my wife Carlisle." Arthur bubbled with excitement. He seemed like a classic vampire, pale and beautiful though his eyes were a vibrant gold that showed of his vegetarian status. His hair sat straight and dark against his forehead and he was a surprisingly short man compared to Carlisle.
"And you must meet my fiance" Carlisle beamed, both men were equally excited about the new developments in their lives as if they were children showing off their new toys. Quinn didn't mind it, happy to see the excitement from Carlisle. "Arthur, this is Quinn O'Connell" he introduced and she moved forward to his side, smiling politely as they shook hands.
"Pleasure to meet you, Miss O'Connell."
"And you. Please, call me Quinn" she urged and the man grinned, nodding.
"Quinn." Arthur acknowledged. "Got yourself a good one here Carlisle."
"Art, don't objectify the poor girl" a voice chastised and Arthurs grin grew as a stunning woman rounded the corner, she was tall with billowing straight black hair and a stern, polite smile as she pulled Quinn into a hug.
"My wife" Arthur informed unnecessarily, gesturing to the woman and she rolled her eyes as she shook Carlisle's hand in greeting. "Sophie"
"Pleasure to meet you" Carlisle and Quinn answered together, eyes snapping to face one another when they answered in synchrony before they laughed together like lovesick fools. Arthur found it fascinating to watch as he stared with his topaz eyes unblinking.
"Come, Quinn, we must gossip about them behind their backs" Sophie's winked, looping their arms together and the blonde vampire laughed at her fiance's expression as Sophie whisked her away to go for a walk through the many shelves, leaving the men alone to discuss books. "Arthur and I are a part of the Irish Coven, I am not sure if you have had the chance to meet yet? Maggie, Siobhan and Liam? We tend to travel around on our own though."
"No, I haven't met them yet. I haven't really met anyone yet" Quinn laughed anxiously, shyly.
"Oh my dear, when were you turned?"
"Oh, I was turned at the end of May" she responded with a small smile and Sophie blinked at her in shock.
"My, you are a special one. How can you stand to be here? With all these people?" she questioned, her voice remaining low throughout their entire conversation and Quinn matched her volume, not even realising until then that they spoke in an almost whisper.
"What do you mean?"
"It took me years to gain the self-control to go outside"
"Oh, I don't know. I suppose that Carlisle is just a good teacher" Quinn laughed nervously, unnerved by the way the tall woman stared at her as if she was a mythical creature.
"No my dear, you are special. Carlisle is a good teacher, I'm sure but self-control is something you come by naturally, it is hard to teach. Do you not long for their blood at all?" Sophie frowned.
"No, I just do not have a desire to drink from humans."
"How very very interesting" Sophie mused again and Quinn glanced around for Carlisle to save her from her conversation with Sophie. The Irish vampire was very stern though friendly, something that Quinn couldn't manage to understand.
