The snow crunched underfoot at Edward Cullen and Quinn O'Connell trekked through the forest of Denali, side by side. It was mostly quiet for them both but Quinn could not help but notice Edwards hesitation- he had something he wanted to say and she didn't need her powers to see that. So, she waited- certain he would say it on his own eventually.
"Quinn" he finally did and she turned to him expectantly, waiting for him to continue. "With your powers... Do you think you could make someone forget something?" Edward questioned carefully as they continued to walk side-by-side and she turned to look into the topaz eyes she knew so well. He just stared at her, unblinking as she frowned.
"I suppose so... I don't see why not" she frowned, uncertain of his question, knowing already where it was heading.
"Do you think you could make me forget-?"
"Edward" Quinn cut him off with a sigh, turning to face him, her vampire eyes pinning of his face that was broken with an expression of utter misery. He was miserable without Bella Swan, even if she was just his blood singer. It didn't matter, because he had come to love her. "What are you asking?"
"I am asking you to make me forget Bella. Please, just make me forget, make me forget Forks all together if you have to, it can be as if we were never there. I won't have to feel the pain every day knowing that I must live an eternity without her, the guilt I feel for leaving her behind, Please" he looked about ready to drop to his knees and beg and Quinn took his hands softly, holding them.
"Edward, please please listen to me. Forgetting isn't the answer. See sense, okay? You don't want to forget, not really. You don't want to forget the person you love most in the world. It hurts, I know you're in pain and you're suffering but at least you have the memories, of loving her. You're miserable now... But you weren't exactly happy before, forgetting her is just going to make you broody for other reasons. Maybe Bella was the best thing to ever happen to you? You saved me, Edward when the world was ending for me when I thought that death was preferable to living in the world I was in. Don't forget all that, everything you have done. You're an incredible person and I owe you my life. Know that you will always at least have me. And know that you are one of the only people that I will never use my powers on."
"Quinn, you mean so much to me. I hope you know that. Coming here, to Denali would be unbearable without you. You've helped me make it this far and I know that my pain is by no means over, and I know that you are going travelling soon, but it feels to great to have a best friend. Even in the pain", he expressed, eyes filling with tears that would never fall.
Then she pulled him close, into a tight hug that he needed more than anything.
"I might be going travelling Ed, but I am always a phone call away, okay?"
"I know Quinn. But you need this, you need to go and live your life now. You can finally live the life that you deserve. I'm not going to stand in the way of that... You proposed to Carlisle." he stated it so simply, even though she never told him.
"I did" her smile broke out when she pulled back from the hug and seeing the happiness in her eyes made it almost worth it for Edward, almost worth all the pain he felt. For the briefest of moments, her happiness made his heart feel lighter.
