Quinn ran as fast as her weak muscles would allow through the forest with her family at her side. It was the first time they were able to feed in weeks and the thought of sinking her teeth into something had adrenaline coursing through her. They'd have to be fast so as to not alarm the wolves but they knew they could survive because they were there together.

There was something so freeing about running and the wind seemed to want to take her straight off of her feet as they practically flew through the trees. Wolves were growling at their heels within moments of their exit, and Esme panicked, the slowest of the bunch. Quinn skidded to slow, grabbing her mother figure strongly and partially dragging her along. The blonde couldn't allow anything bad to happen to their family.

Quinn grabbed Esme as tightly as her hold would allow before skidding to jump across the cavern in the earth, dragging the mother with her as she did so and the second their feet planted firmly on the other side, they knew that they had evaded the wolf pack. At least for now. Carlisle breathed in a sigh of relief and pulled his fiance tightly into his grip. Jack, Esme, Quinn, Emmett and Carlisle were the ones that went out on the feed, the other group would take the next turn. This was as good a job as they could do.

As the vampires tackled the forest creatures easily, the feel of the blood coursing through them, it was as if new life had been breathed into them and the grin that split across Quinn's cheeks as she met eyes with Carlisle was fabulous. He kissed her once, for the briefest of moments before their happy moment was shredded in half by the sound of her phone ringing. Ripping it from her pocket, she had her phone to her ear in a second.

"Alice?"

"Quinn, it's coming. The baby. Carlisle left his phone behind."

"Alice we're coming as fast as we can" Quinn demanded and as she looked into Carlisle's eyes, she knew that nothing had ever been so important. They were racing through the trees faster than any of them had ever run before and as they did so, they could only hope that they would be fast enough. Quinn was the fastest, she always had been and so she was the first to skid to a stop at the porch steps- Having left the remainder of her family far behind. Though, it was not the greeting she expected.

As Quinn found herself stood still, nothing but panic coursed through her at the sound of the wolves that approached by the dozen. She couldn't take them all. Somewhere, far away, Esme and the others were approaching but they wouldn't make it in time. As the first wolf pounced, she screeched and shoved it away.

"Edward!"

And he was there, covered in the blood of his wife but knowing that he had to save his best friend too. There were only two people on the earth that Edward Cullen physically was incapable of living without and as wolves pounced from all directions at the little blonde he'd saved two years ago- He knew that she was undoubtedly one of them.

"Alice! Jasper!" he hollered, knowing that if she was there, the others would soon be too.

"We're outnumbered" Jasper stressed as the four fell into line, watching the line of growling wolves.

"By a lot"

"I won't let them hurt my family" Edward nodded decisively and as the wolves approached, the four vampires attacked. Two groups who had lived peacefully side by side for years were now at odds and it was uncertain who would come out superior. Allies became enemies that night, as the frail body of Bella Cullen fought to keep its foothold on the earth, as Rosalie Hale cradled the newest member of their family, and as Jacob Black made an unconscious change that would undoubtedly bring both pain and happiness.

Quinn screeched as a large wolf pinned her down and as its eyes glared menacingly down at her- she feared the worst. There was nothing she could do but brace her hands against its body and hope that it would be enough for survival.

As soon as the beast was upon her, it had been thrown away and Carlisle yanked her upwards protectively, tossing her back towards the group of Cullens congregating at the foot of the stairs. The wolves weren't backing down as the second she thought she was safe, more were there.

It was a fight to behold as the wolves waged war against the vampires. But their salvation came from the most unlikely of places as Jacob Black valiantly sprinted from the beautiful mansion, tossing a wolf away from Quinn with all his strength and pulling her gently to stand beside him- much to all their shock.

"It's over" he persisted, eyes locked with the black beast in front and Quinn frowned as she assessed the group- Eyes falling upon Edward who already had an expression of horror. "If you kill her, you kill me." and he phased, turning to stand alongside Leah and Seth as Edward pulled Quinn protectively behind him.

"Jacob imprinted" Edward breathed out. "They can't hurt her. Whoever a wolf imprints on... Cannot be harmed. It's their most absolute law."

And the wolves retreated.
