Quinn hummed, tapping her pen lightly on the desk as she looked over the documents in front of her. Collectively, they were looking for answers about Renesmee's incredible growth rate and the blonde girl was comparing two sheets of paper, both of which held incredibly different pieces of information. It was Emmett who inevitably broke her trance, the rain glittering down beyond the glass window of the dining room.

"Wow, done already?" the blonde flashed her gaze over to where Bella and Edward and she couldn't help but smirk for a moment before returning her attention back to the documents at hand though Jacob's constant chewing behind her was grating on her slowly.

"Where's Renesmee?" the brunette questioned in a quiet tone though they all heard her easily and Quinn sighed, quickly squiggling a circle over a portion of the article before handing it along the line to Carlisle, his eyes pinned on the laptop on the desk. They made a good team.

"Blondie stole her" Jacob returned, watching Rosalie bouncing Renesmee in her arms below them and Quinn couldn't help but smile gently, appreciating the calm of the situation.

"Break a lot of stuff?" Emmett returned to the previous conversation and it earned him raised eyebrows from all around, Carlisle tsking with his tongue before returning to tapping away easily on his laptop.

"Emmett" Bella breathed. "No" and that was it for the conversation. Quinn huffed in boredom, tossing her pen and watching it bounce slightly aggressively against the wood of the table. Her face became awkward for a second as she looked up at Carlisle and he just laughed, shaking his head with an amused smile as he took her hand gently, stroking his thumb over her knuckles. It was the sound of the phone ringing that broke their serenity and all around the room- they froze like statues.

"Is that Charlie?" Bella questioned with pain in her tone and her red eyes shifted over to Quinn who looked uncomfortable under the scrutiny.

"He's been calling twice a day" Edward stated calmly.

"He's in pretty rough shape" Jacob acknowledged, finally finding interest in something other than his sandwich.

"Eventually" Carlisle sighed, "We'll have to tell him you didn't make it" and Quinn held onto his hand a little bit tighter, the doctor very willingly soothing her again with a soft smile.

"He needs to mourn Bella" Edward breathed.

"Why can't you do what you did with Quinn?" Jacob questioned suddenly, taking another bite from his sandwich and the blonde girl looked down at the documents, shaking her head.

"I didn't have anyone to mourn me" she returned in a single breath. "When I vanished for months to grow accustomed to this world- Nobody noticed and if I had put out the story that I was dead... Nobody would care" Quinn's voice was static as she said that, unwavering and Carlisle tensed for a fraction of a second before tugging her hand slightly. The gesture caused her to look up and when their eyes met, he scanned her face with a warm reassuring smile.

"Okay, we'll do it tomorrow" Bella nodded firmly and Emmett lazily tossed his newspaper down as he moved to stand.

"I'm going to miss this place"

"I'm not" Quinn whistled with a wink and they all rolled their eyes at her, though they knew that Quinn O'Connell had grown to rather like Forks Washington after all that time.

"Wait" Jacob cut in and they turned to face him, aware of the way his heart hammered like a train. "Nobody said anything about leaving?"

"Once people believe Bella's dead, we can't risk anyone seeing her"  Carlisle returned, frowning because he knew the weight of the words he was saying.

"So you're just going to disappear?" the wolf persisted, voice cracking.

"Jacob, we don't have another choice" Edward frowned and the tanned boy strode toward him quickly, shoulder barging him out of the way to leave the house with a clear passage. When the boy did leave, Edward sighed and pulled Bella close to his chest- knowing the swirl of emotions that must be flooding her, even if he couldn't read her mind. The brunette slowly took a seat beside her fellow female and Quinn looked up after a minute with a smile.

"Hi" the newest vampire peeped and Quinn giggled at her awkwardness.

"Hello Bella" she returned and the girl quickly relaxed after that.

"What are you two doing?" Edward questioned, sitting opposite his best friend and wife to look over the paper that was spread like leaves across the mahogany of the desk.

"Researching"

"Have you found anything?" Bella questioned, sitting forward determinedly and Quinn smiled uncomfortably in return.

"When you cut out the absurd, the ridiculous and the highly improbable" Quinn hummed, tapping a tall pile of paper on the desk. "You're left with these" she informed, waving a much smaller pile in the air and the new mother sighed sadly, looking down.

"We'll keep looking" Carlisle assured her, patting his fiance's hand once more before returning both his hands to the keyboard and they smiled between one another sincerely. Their happiness was tarnished around the outside but wholly excellent through the rose coloured glasses.

"Quinn" Bella breathed and Quinn looked up at her, slightly shocked by her tone. "You don't really think that nobody would care if you died?"

"Not anymore Bella" Quinn smiled sweetly. "Before... Charlie might've been sad, maybe for a few days and if I was ever brought into the conversation but that was just because that's who he is. Jackie would cry and then get over it... There's no one to really mourn me, Bella"

"There is now" Carlisle responded with intensity, looking only at her and she smiled.

"There is now" she repeated smoothly.
