"Focus Quinn, or you'll never get anywhere" Eleazar demanded as he stared deeply into her fresh gold eyes that were currently screwed up in concentration. Together, they stood in the field that a few days before, that had played baseball in. The blonde girl was practicing her 'gift' but wasn't progressing very far.
"I don't even know what I'm supposed to be doing" she huffed and the man scoffed, rolling his eyes at her.
"Q, if Eddie can get inside our heads that easily, it can't be that difficult" Emmett teased as he watched her from beside Carlisle and Edward. That was it for the onlookers, everyone else remaining in the house or venturing out to go shopping. Edward scoffed and punched said brother in the arm when he spoke.
"Just relax love" Carlisle called out before Edward and Emmett got the chance to begin a brawl in that random Alaskan clearing. "You can do this. You've done it before" Carlisle aided and she shut her eyes for a moment before opening them intensely, breathing out her determination as she stared at Eleazar and he stared in return, waiting for anything to happen.
"If you can control Jasper with your voice, you can get inside my head and make me do whatever you want, without even having to speak. It's an incredible gift Quinn" he informed and her face did not even move an inch, there was nothing to show that she was in his head- but she was. And in that moment, as she dug through his thoughts in concentration, she decided to play around for a while. "You know, Emmett" the man began and Emmett turned to him eagerly. "You've always been my least favourite Cullen."
Edward laughed rowdily at that, finally breaking character and Eleazar blinked in confusion, seeing Emmett's face.
"Well done Quinn, you managed to make me say things that aren't even true." The man sighed but smiled in pride simultaneously.
"Quinn! What the heck." Emmett flared but there remained a smirk on his face. He was however, disgruntled by Edwards laughing.
"Look our Ed, you're not the only mind reader now." She winked and he blanched for a second, finally realising that she was absolutely correct.
"Wait-" he started but Carlisle laughed.
"What are the drawbacks then?" Eleazar prompted. "Every gift has one."
"It takes a while to get into your head, ten seconds at least and I wouldn't be able to control more than one person at once because I need eye contact. But on the bright-side, it doesn't always require my voice, not unless I'm trying to do it quickly, like with jasper." She tried her best to explain and Eleazar nodded along. "Once I'm in, it's fine. It just takes a while to get a grasp on it"
"Plus, your eyes are now black. You need to hunt again" Edward pointed out and she nodded, accepting his concern. Edward had been spending a lot of time with the newborn recently and it was unknown to everyone why. All expect Carlisle- who Edward had confided in. Spending time with Quinn made him feel better, even if it was just for a moment.
"Well done, love" Carlisle remarked as he accepted her graciously into a hug and pressed a kiss to her lips. That had everyone turning their faces away, distracting their eyesights by looking somewhere different. "You're incredible."
"A great compliment coming from someone as incredible as you." She beamed and then a fake gag from Emmett cut the off, the bulky vampire glaring with a face of disgust- to which they only laughed. Denali was proving to be quite a good adventure for Quinn O'Connell thus far, all her dreams were slowly coming true- except the noticeable absence of one Isabella Swan.
