"Please don't take my horse" she pouted and he rose an eyebrow and chuckled, before taking her knight.
"Firstly, It's called a knight. Secondly, that's not really the point of the game, Love. If you don't want me to take it, don't put it in a place I can take it from" Carlisle chuckled, scanning the board easily and she pouted crossing her arms.
"Don't you love me?" she batted her wide eyes brilliantly and he chuckled.
"Of course I do" he retorted and suddenly the pieces fell off the board as Quinn yanked it out from underneath them. Carlisle rose an eyebrow.
"Oops," she grinned and he laughed again as he tackled her into the couch, the sound of her laughter filling his ears as he stretched across the furniture with her being pulled down onto his chest.
"You're such a sore loser Darling" he laughed into her ear and she pouted as she shifted so their chests were to one another, his arms around her waist being the only thing to stop her from falling sideways off of the sofa onto the rug.
"But you love me" she grinned in victory and he laughed, rolling his eyes but he couldn't possibly deny it as across the room, Edward and Bella entered. The blonde doctor shifted, trying to sit up straight now that they were in a civil company but his girlfriend wouldn't budge. That forced the man to huff and pick her all the way up with him, depositing her on the seat before taking a seat again. Quinn merely smiled at the other couples vaguely amused expressions while Carlisle seemed slightly embarrassed... Quinn found it adorable.
"Carlisle, should we send the Volturi an invitation to the wedding?" Edward questioned, leaning forward slightly from where he had taken a seat.
"Wait, you're getting married?" Quinn teased. "I wondered what Alice had been prattling on and on about for the past month." Edward scoffed at her and Bella smiled while Carlisle chuckled and then proceeded to answer Edwards question, ignoring her teasing.
"I would, they won't come but I think they would appreciate the gesture" the doctor spoke softly and the mind reader nodded.
"Hurry up and get married already, I'm going to have an aneurysm." Quinn threw an arm lazily over her face.
"You're a vampire, Q-tips" Emmett remarked as he waltzed into the room.
"Which just proves that Alice has more than one gift. She's not just a clairvoyant... She is also supernaturally annoying." Quinn teased, smirking as she heard Alice yell at her from a few floors above. They all ignored it, if she was really upset she would come down to yell at her.
"Anyway," Emmett hummed. "Mail" he clapped and dropped a letter on top of Quinn's head, watching it fall into her lap.
"Wait, I have mail?" she frowned, picking up the letter and staring at it in shock. The newest vampire hadn't had a single letter while living in the Cullen house and the others seemed just as curious as she was as she turned the letter over. In doing so, she froze and stared at the letters with an intense gaze. There was no address, meaning someone had hand-delivered it to the mailbox at the end of the drive and in perfect capital block letters was written one word.
'QUINNY'
"Maybe it's from Gabby?" Edward offered and Quinn frowned as she stared at the aggressively written word on the front of the otherwise crisp white envelope. From her side, Carlisle wrapped an arm around her as she opened it slowly, pulling out the paper within which happened to be a newspaper clipping, one that must be new because she'd never seen it before.

MAYOR TO MONSTER
This morning, Seattle and the wider area of Forks were shocked to the core to find of a twisting, riveting new scandal. Once famed as the local town mayor and all-around hunk, the late Jensen Hargreaves has been rocked with scandal as allegations of his sexual pursuits come into light with some shocking evidence. The case sees no fewer than twenty three women all braving together and coming forward to bring justice after all this time. Nothing has yet been heard from the Hargreaves estate who will be badly hit by these allegations. Jensen Hargeaves was known as the nice guy in town who wasn't too bad on the eye either. The mayor fell into a deep depression at the loss of his late wife, Elizabeth O'Connell and committed suicide as a result earlier this year. Nothing has been heard from his daughter or step-daughter at this shocking time but the Hargreaves estate has been shocked with scandal on countless occasions over the years, people are stepping forward to provide some much needed light on the elusive family and allegations that the step-daughter herself once attempted suicide using poison no less are coming to light. Seattle Times will be following the story and providing an insight into the life of the mysterious Mayor Hargeaves in coming months.

Quinn stared at the newspaper clipping for an immeasurable amount of time, feeling sick despite the fact that she physically didn't have the ability to. Softly, Carlisle leant into her and took the paper gently from her hand, eyes scanning it in seconds. Slamming the paper onto the table angrily, Carlisle took Quinn gently into his arms, holding her strongly as her body began to shake. Bella watched in shock as two things happened that she'd never seen before...
It was the first time Bella Swan had ever seen Carlisle Cullen angry, his eyes were blazing with a furious intensity and Quinn was crying. No tears fell from her eyes but broken sobs slipped through her lips as she shook violently and Bella looked over at Edward with wide eyes as he scanned the piece of paper that was discarded on the table.
"We need to phone the newspaper, get this sorted out," he demanded instantly.
"It doesn't say your name" Bella tried calming and Carlisle smiled appreciatively but his eyes remained sad as he hugged Quinn, holding her together.
"But everyone knows that Quinn is his step-daughter."
