Quinn O'Connell felt sick and she was sure that if it was possible she would be a bright disgusting green colour in the face as she walked through the shopping mall, searching for the store Alice had sent her on an errand to. Since the letter landed in her lap, Quinn had been living in a constant state of paranoia and as she bustled through the crowd, she didn't even notice how appealing the human's blood smelt.
As Quinn rushed, in the moto of getting there as fast as possible so she could leave as fast as possible, she felt as though every single pair of eyes she passed was pinned on her face sharply, each one having a hundred thoughts swirling through their heads that she didn't want to hear. And if she was feeling less irrational and saner, perhaps she'd have considered they were staring at her due to how out of her mind she appeared.
Despite how stunningly beautiful Quinn O'Connell was, her erratic breathing and wide, dazed eyes instantly gave off an unsettling opinion to those who passed her in the sparkling central mall. Stopping abruptly, Quinn felt the urge to throw up right then and there, something which was physically impossible so indicated obviously to her that it was all in her head. Her head which was pounding with a million emotions that wouldn't stop no matter how hard she tried to halt them. Whipping her head back and forth in search of the store, Quinn stumbled along in search of someplace where she could scream to let out her frustration.
The people were so tightly packed together, she felt as if they were all grasping ahold of her as she forced her way onwards through the throng of people to space beside the fountain where she could breathe for a moment in peace. Quinn O'Connell didn't know vampires enough to know if they could get panic attacks but the emotions bubbling inside of her felt something akin to that as she held her chest. Despite how hard she tried to breathe, she felt like she was drowning- another impossibility. Quinn hadn't felt such serious panic and discomfort since becoming a vampire, somehow she did not even feel that way as she fought the newborns and as she flustered to compose herself, she felt that the panic was closer to killing her off than Victoria's arms had been.
Most of all, Quinn felt embarrassed because she knew how strange she must seem, and as if her appearance did not bring her enough strange glances. What happened next replaced the embarrassment with something else... Fear. Quinn knew that she was an immortal vampire but as she stared at the figure in the shadows, she felt like the fifteen-year-old human with the blue eyes again.
It was almost definitely her imagination fooling her but as she stared at the shadow, it seemed to real. The man walking away would be recognisable to her even in a crowd of millions because he was the monster who plagued her darkest moments. Certain it was her imagination but not caring in the slightest, the fear being completely real- she ran. Quinn forced herself to be slow as she raced from the building and down the road. The sound of her shoes clicking along the pavement as she ran in human speed was the opposite of calming and the rain hammering on her head only made it harder to see, it did nothing to stop the drowning feeling.
Arms wrapping around her made her audibly scream and she felt herself be span by a strong pair of arms into a side alleyway which was empty. After a long moment of fighting the arms that held her, Quinn finally recognised the voice and arms that tried to soothe her. Breathing deeply, in hyperventilation- Quinn looked up into the shocked eyes of Edward Cullen. The vampire held her shoulders in shock, eyes scanning her face as the hood of his raincoat shielded his hair from the hammering rain. She, on the other hand, was plastered, but she didn't care.
"Edward" she gasped in a horrified, broken sob and she threw her arms around him in pure relief. She was more relieved then that she had been when he'd saved her from Victoria and the realisation shocked him as he held her with a furious intensity, holding her together in the rain in the dark alleyway of Port Angeles.
"Shh, shh, you're okay. You're safe" he assured her in a furious whisper, speaking into her wet hair and she held onto him tightly as if he was her lifeline. Edward didn't seem to mind as he ushered her along through the rain, imploring her to pick up speed as they half- sprinted (in human speed) to where he'd parked. The two of them had come to Port Angeles together so that he could try on some suits and while he did so, she went to get something for Alice.
Edward hadn't thought anything of allowing Quinn to go off on her own, she was a vampire after all but now that he saw her panicked eyes and heard her broken, dry sobs, he felt completely awful for leaving her alone. He'd known for a long time that Quinn wasn't okay, the blonde vampire balanced on the edge of a very dangerous cliff and despite how happy she sometimes felt, she was always destined to fall the other way.
Opening the door for her, Edward practically pushed her into the seat, ushering her in the close the door firmly behind her and take his seat comfortably beside her. Quinn finally closed her eyes, feeling normality seep back in slowly.
