Quinn O'Connell was the pretty girl in pink, the homecoming queen and all-around straight-A student. Most people saw her as uptight, narcissistic but most importantly... They saw her as a control freak with her perfect blonde hair and patronising sm...

Quinn hummed, smiling upwards into the snow as it passed over her body, catching gloriously in her eyelashes and hair. There was something so beautiful about snow to Quinn- Perhaps it was the way the snow covered the world in a beautiful covering, how it made everything look so immaculate. Snow made the earth seem fresh, removing all impurities.
Despite the stench of the wolf beside her, Quinn was glad to be there; beside Bella and Jacob as they watched Renesmee dance around in the snow- Catching snowflakes in her partially cold hands.
"Edward thinks that we'll find answers in Brazil" Bella stated calmly as she watched her daughter with nothing but love in her now-golden eyes, and Quinn smiled reassuringly. "There are tribes there that might know something."
"We'll find answers Bella, I know we will."
"It's just... I have everything I have ever wanted. And the only thing standing in the way is the time we have to spend enjoying the life we have been given." her words were so solemn and sad that Quinn couldn't help but frown when she heard them. "... Alice knows you're planning a wedding without her" Bella laughed.
"Does she mind?" Quinn blinked, looking at the powdery snow and the brunette smiled gently, taking her friend's hand softly in her own.
"She doesn't mind, Quinn... She knows, that you need this." and that was enough of an answer to settle their minds. It was what Quinn needed because even after all this time, she still desired control- and everyone knew that. It wasn't a coping mechanism for Quinn anymore, it was just a part of herself, a part that everyone had grown to accept wholeheartedly as they grew to love her.
Quinn smiled as she watched Renesmee leap into the air to catch a snowflake, the girl was so mesmerising in every manner of the word, so perfectly unique. Bella knew as she watched her daughter, that it was impossible to love anyone more than she loved her. Renesmee was perfect and no decision Bella had ever made seemed wrong now- Because it gave her the child. Bella was proud to call herself Renesmee's mother.
"Bells" Quinn frowned, eyes pinning on something in the distance and Bella saw it too as she brought Renesmee close to her side. "Go home, I'll be right there" she ushered- and then she was running. Quinn O'Connell had always been the fastest of the Cullen coven- minus Edward and she chased the figure for miles, an immeasurable amount of time elapsing as she tried to catch who she now knew was her Denali cousin. "Irina!" she called numerous times but it didn't make a single difference.
Irina throwing herself off of the cliff and into the water below marked the end of Quinn's long chase, and it deemed the entire thing pointless. The blonde vampire made her way home slowly though confusion couldn't help but befuddle her mind as she did. As Quinn finally reached the front porch of the Cullen mansion, Carlisle was already waiting for her- leaning against the railing.
"That was a waste of time" the girl huffed as she accepted the hug he offered. "I couldn't catch her. She had too much of a head start."
"It's okay" the blond man returned calmly. "Tanya convinced her to come here to make peace after what happened before. It seems she changed her mind. We think seeing Jacob was the trigger." he huffed as he encouraged her into the house. The warmth of the mansion was inviting- though, unnecessary and the sound of the piano playing gently calmed her nervous mind from the chase they had just taken part in as they entered the main room to find Edward playing the piano with Renesmee, Bella at their side.
Nobody spoke to break the silence, the new arrivals just taking a seat on the couch beside one another to watch. It was beautiful- the bond between parents and their child and sadly, it was something that Quinn could never experience but Carlisle knew- as he looked over at Edward playing away peacefully- that he had found that in him. Edward was Carlisle's son and as messed up as their family dynamic was- That would never change.
Renesmee had achieved her love for music from her father and she played marvellously. The family felt bathed in calm as she did so... They didn't know that that moment in the main room was to be the last moment of calm they would receive in a long time.
But Alice saw.
The vase went shattering to the floor unexpectedly in a thousand tiny fragments and the horror that masked Alice's face had Quinn rushing to her side in a second. The seer stared at Quinn with a thousand emotions of horror running like wet paint down her face. And Quinn and Edward knew they must've looked the same. It felt as though every ounce of happiness over the past few months had been drained entirely from their bodies.
Because they knew at that moment, that their happiness was gone.
"What is it?" Carlisle breathed with urgency as he brought his shell-shocked fiance into his arms calmly.
