The forest looked so beautiful that day as Quinn O'Connell stared into it, the snowstorm had slowly passed which meant that the time was quickly approaching where they would have to risk their lives to defeat the newborn army but she would do it happily because it was for her family; it was for the love of her life and it was for everyone she had met along the way. It was for Edward who was something else, a relationship neither of them could ever quite understand but never seemed to mind.

"I am sorry" his voice was so velvety soft that it caught her off guard, she didn't expect to see him standing there but as Edward smiled softly down at her, she couldn't help but return it. There something akin to guilt in his eyes that day as he stood beside her on the porch steps but it was an expression she couldn't comprehend. "I promised you when I drove you here that you were safe now, here with us. But since then, you have been turned into a vampire, and are now being forced to fight for your new family. You don't deserve it, you deserve to be happy."

"I am happy, Edward. I have been happy since I first saw you text me back on that day over a year ago." she turned to him, placing her hand on his arm and he turned to face her too. "Stop trying to blame yourself for everything that has happened, because it was never your fault. You've done what you felt was right."

"I just wanted to make your life better"

"You've made it a thousand times better, Edward. I can't tell you how much happier I am now than I was before. I feel more alive now than I ever had, and that's in death. And I have a family, one which I will gladly fight for. I will fight for you Edward and your happiness with Bella." she implored carefully, meaning every single word and as he looked into her swirling gold eyes, he saw nothing but the truth. There was something about Quinn O'Connell, something he could never quite understand but felt so attracted to. Edward desperately wanted to consider Quinn in the same regard as he did the other members of the family, he wanted to see her as a sister as he did with Alice and Rosalie... But he couldn't. Quinn and Edward weren't brother and sisters, they were something else, something they didn't yet know.

"Thank you, Quinn. For everything that you have done for me since the very first day. You've saved me too, more than you know. Stay safe tomorrow, please. I don't know what I will do if you get hurt because of me" he implored, voice serious and she smiled softly at him, patting where her hand rested on his arm softly.

"And you stay safe too" she nodded and he returned a grin before pulling her into a hug, it was a hug like they had had the very first time she had come to the Cullen house, it was a hug that sealed a promise. It was her promise to him that she would stay safe. And there was something so soothing about the hug. Edward felt the tension in him slowly dissipate as she hugged him, and she was calmed too. Quinn O'Connell didn't much like affection but from Carlisle and Edward- it was absolutely acceptable.

"She will stay safe" a voice piped up and they turned as Alice joined them with a bright beam on her face, forcing herself between the pair and wrapping her arms through each of theirs so they stood in a tight line facing the forest. "We will all be okay. Make sure you tie your hair back tightly Quinn, you don't want them to have anything to grab" Alice smiled softly and Quinn nodded.

"An oncoming battle and all Alice can talk about is hair" Emmett scoffed as he appeared from nowhere, having jumped down from a second-story window. "I for one, can't wait to kick some newborn ass."

"That's because you are an overgrown child" Jasper teased as he propped himself up on the railing, watching his family with keen gold eyes. As someone with experience in killing newborns- he had faith in his family to come out the other side unscathed. The Cullen coven was strong.

"I don't much like the thought of killing anything, but I will do so. For my family." Esme smiled softly as she hooked her arm with Quinn's other one and the blonde girl smiled at her adoptive mother. The porch was getting awfully crowded now but none of them felt the need to move- they didn't know how many more moments they had like that.

"All this for one human" Rosalie chimed as she moved to Emmetts side, allowing him to wrap an arm around her carefully. Edward just rolled his eyes at his sisters words.

"It's not one human, Rose. It's the final part of our family" Carlisle's voice made Quinn smile and she easily stepped backwards into his arms, feeling him there even without turning and the oldest vampire wrapped his arms around her soothingly, calming as her scent washed over him.

"I for one, can't wait. I've never fought newborns before" Jack grinned as he rounded the corner, hovering in the doorway and Esme smiled back at him. The two of them hadn't had much time yet but they were as much in love as any of the other couples on the porch and Bella- stood in Edwards window above, couldn't help but smile down at the group on the porch when she stood them standing together. The sight of them assured her that she was doing the right thing in joining that family.

The Cullens were finally complete and they would do anything to preserve that.
