Quinn smiled at him and he smiled back, reaching up to brushed the hair out of her eyes. She had recently returned home from tracking the scent with Jasper- they did not manage to find anything interesting. And now she was cuddled up with Carlisle in his bed, his hand dancing through her blonde curls softly because he knew that it calmed her and he could feel how tense she was.

"Have I ever told you how much I hate Forks" she laughed out quietly and she felt his chest move as he chuckled along with her. "You are the only good thing to ever come out of this wretched place"

"You'll always have me, my love. Always" he promised and pressed a kiss to her forehead, enjoying the way she hummed appreciatively against him when he did so. She had come such a long way in the time that he had known her and he would always see her as the strongest person he'd ever met. "I have something for you."

"You do?" she frowned, looking up at him in confusion and he chuckled as he reached across into his bedside drawer and pulled out a file in a paper envelope, she frowned at it, weighing it in her hands and Carlisle merely smiled.

"Open it, love. It's an early birthday present"

"My birthday isn't for months" she reminded with a quiet giggle and he merely shrugged, winking one topaz eye as she pulled the paper out of the envelope, she instantly frowned at it and looked up at him for an explanation.

"...Esme helped me a little bit with the design... It's an island." he smiled and she blinked at him, not really registering what he was saying to her.

"...An... Island?"

"Yes, for you" he smiled proudly as she just stared at him. "Quinn...I've brought you an island" he informed and she was genuinely frozen, she couldn't understand what he was saying because the idea of it was so unthinkable, it was a true fairytale scene. Eyes drifting downwards to stare at the papers, she looked back up gaping- she was speechless. "You can call it whatever you'd like." he smiled, not expecting that reaction from her. Quinn had the brightest smile on her face when she inevitably threw herself at him- forcing him down onto the bed as she pressed their lips together.

"Thank you! Thank you, so so much" she stuttered. "What do I-...How do I-" she laughed, shaking her head and Quinn kissed him deeply once more.

"You don't have to say anything, Darling. I just wanted to see that happiness on your face. You mentioned when we were in Greece that you missed the sunshine, so I found a place where we can go together, to enjoy the sunshine, where no one will see us, or judge us." he smiled and she kissed him again. Carlisle Cullen was the most compassionate and caring person Quinn O'Connell had ever met, and she loved him more than anything in the world.

"How did I get so lucky?" she breathed out, their limbs tangled together but there was no better place in the world to be. There was nowhere she'd rather be. Carlisle held her impossibly close and they kissed for a long moment, thankful for the fact that they didn't have to breathe as they kissed deeply.

"I'm glad to see that you're happy, Quinn. I just want to see that smile on your face, all day every day. I know that being back here in Forks is hard for you. So, I just wanted to give you something to make up for all this sadness." he frowned sadly.

"Carlisle, you are more than enough. I would be happy anywhere, as long as I am with you." she smiled sweetly and pressed a deep kiss to his lips. "Thank you, so much. For all of this."

"There are many things I cannot give you...I can't-" he stopped and closed his eyes, swallowing sadly and she stared at him. She was lying on his chest as she reached up to brush his wavy blond hair off of his forehead, waiting for him to speak. "We can't-- We can't ever have a family. I know... I know that that is something that Esme and Rosalie find the hardest and I am so sorry for that. You're a vampire because of me, you can't have a family because of me... And I just-- I will give you everything us that I possibly can because you deserve all of that." his eyes watered, glittering a marvellous topaz.

"Oh, Carlisle." she breathed out, taking his cheek softly and watching as his eyes flickered shut, marvelling in the softness of her touch brushing over his cheekbone. "You are more than enough for me, I do have a family. You've already given me a family, you have given me so much. You're more than enough Carlisle, you really are. I'm not just saying that because it's one of those things that people say, I'm saying it because it's true. I love you, and I don't need anything at all, as long as you are mine," she emphasised and he smiled sadly, allowing their lips to meet in a kiss once more.

"I love you so much Quinn, you make everything worthwhile. You make me feel alive."
