Quinn couldn't help but smile as she sat beside Tia and Benjamin- the three of them giggling along like children as they engaged in deep discussion. The three of them couldn't help but get on splendidly and she put that down to their young physical ages- though she couldn't be too certain. So far, her mating to Carlisle had earned her many friends, they were all eager to be kind to the girl who was to wed their 'beloved Carlisle'.
"I better be getting an invitation to this wedding of yours Carlisle" a voice clapped and the doctor flashed his gaze up from where he was in deep discussion with Amun- the man still uncertain of their involvement in the cause. Truthfully, Quinn knew that he was only here because Benjamin was and he would follow his 'son' anywhere.
"Garrett" Carlisle greeted with a grin, accepting the uncomfortable hand-shake/ hug combination that the incredibly tall man offered him. Quinn always thought that Carlisle was rather tall- due to being so small herself- but compared to others he was short in comparison and it just made her smile. "I am so glad you came."
"As am I now, this place offers some intriguing people to befriend" he winked, ted eyes flickering over to the window and Carlisle couldn't help but chuckle as he saw the blond girl standing there- Kate Denali would not have her heart won over easily, that was for sure. "I heard you've been doing alright for yourself in the love department" he winked and the doctor rolled his eyes, glancing around the room and finding Quinn laughing between the Egyptians- a real laugh that he was glad to see from her.
"Quinn" she looked up the second he said her name and she knew that she would recognise his voice in a crowd of a million. Excluding herself from her conversation politely, she was at her fiancé's side in an instant flash. "This is Garrett... Garrett, Quinn O'Connell- my Fiancé"
"Pleasure to meet the woman who has finally captured our Carlisle. I trust you can keep him away from his books for a little while" the man winked and Quinn just laughed along calmly.
"It is a pleasure to meet you Garrett"
"You must fill me in on all of Carlisle's secrets- it's not often I meet people with the ability to gossip about our dear friend" Carlisle blinked in shock at this- Quinn laughing, all too willing to accept the offer.
"Of course. He's a very secretive man, isn't he?" She queried and Garrett nodded, going along with her teasing- finding it amusing how Carlisle rolled his eyes, slightly disgruntled.
"A secretive man who can hear every word your saying love" he reminded in a sing-song voice, though he knew she was only teasing him.
"Well, they aren't secrets to you, are they. Wouldn't really matter if you overheard" she winked and he scoffed, pressing a kiss to her hair. "Where's everyone going?" She frowned as she watched the group swiftly exit the room.
"Everyone's showing off their powers apparently" Sophie hummed, leaping down from her place on the stairs. "Come and show them all up, Quinn, put them in their place," she ushered and the linked arms with the blonde, quickly manoeuvring her from the room. This left Carlisle and Garrett alone behind.
"Stunning one you've got there, brother" Garret clapped with a side smile and Carlisle just rose an eyebrow at him before they also made a motion to exit.
"Zafrina has power over the mind, like you." Carlisle breathed into Quinn's hair lowly as he took to standing beside her, wrapping his arms gently around her waist as he did so. "She can make anybody see what she wants them to"
"If you weren't holding my hand right now" Edward spoke softly to Bella as he experienced Zafrina's power for the first time. "I could swear this was real." his wife's look of befuddlement was enough to see that she didn't share the experience.
"I don't see anything" Bella frowned.
"Edward" Eleazar frowned as he approached, nodding at Quinn once as he did so. "You didn't tell me your wife was a shield."
"What's a shield?" Bella demanded in confusion and Quinn looked back at Carlisle for answers. Edward was faster.
"The ones I've met are so different" he frowned with a low chuckle which didn't help Bella.
"It's a defensive talent" Eleazar shrugged as if it was simple and it all seemed to make so much more sense to them then.
"It's why I couldn't read your mind, even before." the mind reader informed. "It's why Aro couldn't"
"You have a very powerful gift" Eleazar continued and their little conversation was cut short when Kate grabbed Bella's hand eagerly, appearing from nowhere.
"Oh yeah, she's a shield alright. That should've put her on her ass"
"Or your voltage has been exaggerated" Garrett chipped in, arms crossed arrogantly and Quinn couldn't help but grin. From her time in Denali- she knew that Kate was a very powerful vampire and Garrett needed knocking down a peg or two.
"Maybe it only works on the weak" she wiggled her fingers, raising her hand and there was a collective grin across the group.
"Garrett, I wouldn't" Carlisle warned but, of course, the nomad knew better as he pressed his finger to her hand. Though he fell to his knees in pain, he at least had the decency not to scream.
