The glittering stars danced across the sky above them, reflected in the water the glided across and as the air flowed marvellously through Quinn's blonde curls, she felt completely free. Carlisle sailed the boat effortlessly under the midnight blackness of the sky and everything in the world seemed to have been worth it as he saw the elated smile that danced across her lips as they chopped through the waves in Rio.

Carlisle Cullen knew at that moment that Quinn O'Connell was finally free, she was finally happy as she giggled at the water that splashed up into her eyes. The boat ride was long as she sat with a blanket needlessly around her shoulders but time meant nothing when you were in the company of the person you loved. The minutes felt like seconds as she watched him. Carlisle looked so young and free as he sailed the boat. It didn't take long for the island to come into sight and Quinn felt a fresh wave of appreciation and awe at the sight of it, even after all the times she had seen the photographs.

"It's beautiful" she breathed and he seemed proud at her words as he helped her out gently and walked hand-in-hand with her toward the beautiful construction.

"Esme helped to design it... I'm not much of an architect" he chuckled and she giggled along as she turned to him with a beam and pressed an excitable kiss to his lips. In the process of the kiss, Carlisle reached down and swept her legs from under her- making her gasp out a squeal that he laughed too as he walked her across the threshold and into their house on the silent island.

Carlisle didn't put her down as they walked through the house, taking it in with their own eyes for the very first time and the pictures had not done it any justice. The fabric of Quinn's ice blue dress fluttered around her as they walked gently as she weighed nothing to him as they explored the large rooms. It was everything Quinn had ever wanted it to be and she knew that even though they'd just arrived, she would be miserable when the time came for them to leave.

Only when they reached the master bedroom did Carlisle place her down gently onto her feet and she was in awe as she walked across the room, exploring. As she reached the large glass doors, she pulled the curtains back slowly and placed her hands on her handles, pushing them open quickly and allowing the air to flow inwards from the outside world. The beach looked so pretty down in the darkness beneath the glittering stars.

Carlisle's arms wound around her gently from behind and as she leant back into him, she knew that she was home. An immeasurable amount of time passed where they did nothing but stand and stare out at the softly lapping waves and everything was finally at peace. As her eyes closed, Quinn knew that she was at the closest she could ever be to sleep- It felt magical.

Slowly, Quinn walked forward, taking his hand with her as she softly walked down to the beach. The second her small white shoes hit the soft sand, she kicked them off and marvelled in the feel of the sand as it bathed over her marble skin. Carlisle smiled behind her as he watched the grin that split across her cheeks and he too kicked his shoes from his feet.

Quinn turned to her fiance with a gentle smile and she was so beautiful there, in the moonlight. Quinn couldn't help but laugh loudly as Carlisle unexpectedly grabbed her, tossing her lazily onto his shoulder and she giggled as he ran down toward the water, the girl on his shoulder bouncing with her laughs as the saltwater finally washed over his legs. He didn't stop until he was waist-deep in it and only then did he drop her in. Quinn unconsciously closed her lips as the water went over her, even though holding her breath was unnecessary.

Hopping up to stand, laughing as her dress painted itself to her skin and her hair darkened to an almost brown, she threw herself at Carlisle and he was forced under the waves too. Resurfacing together, Carlisle laughed freely and clapped his hand to the water, sending saltwater in a torrent towards her. The water fight that ensued had them both laughing brilliantly, feeling young and free.

"You're so beautiful" Carlisle breathed out as they mellowed and his hands took her cheeks were they stood in the waves. Pressing her lips to hs felt so simple as Quinn pushed herself onto her tiptoes because nothing else mattered now that they had one another. The kiss was slow but building and as he finally boosted her up into his arms, he used vampire speed to get them back into the bedroom overlooking the waves.

Their wet clothes peeled so easily off of their skin as they kissed each other in the light of the moon, needing no light to see one another in the dark. It didn't matter that they were soaking wet as their hands wound through one another's hair. All that mattered was that they had one another and they were happier than they had ever been.
