Quinn O'Connell was the pretty girl in pink, the homecoming queen and all-around straight-A student. Most people saw her as uptight, narcissistic but most importantly... They saw her as a control freak with her perfect blonde hair and patronising sm...

Quinn smiled sweetly into the mirror as she looked back at Renesmee in the backseat of Carlisle's Mercedes. The doctor drove calmly with Bella and Edward occupying the two remaining seats on either side of their beautiful daughter. The girl had grown impressively fast over the past few months and Quinn couldn't help but be shocked by it as she looked back at the child that smiled back at her, chocolate brown eyes blinking.
"Auntie Quinny?" Renesmee questioned in her stunning tone that was far too clear to belong to a child and the blonde girl looked over her shoulder again from where her eyes were pinned on the road. There was that name, the nickname that Renesmee had taken to calling her and Quinn didn't have the heart to stop.
"Yes, Sweetie?"
"Are you excited?" the girl cheered innocently and Quinn beamed, the family were all on their way to the park for Renesmee's very first visit, somehow the girl had grown incredibly but they still wanted her to experience childhood things. The blonde grinned when Renesmee said that.
"Very, are you excited?" she returned and Renesmee nodded firmly, finding great interest in the lights on the dashboard, eyes scanning it through the gap in the front seats. Though her chocolate doe eyes cast downward when she saw Carlisle and Quinn's hands joined on his knee and she grinned cutely.
"Are you and Grandpa going to get married?" she questioned and Carlisle laughed, smiling over at his fiance briefly.
"We are" she promised, reaching back to show Renesmee her hand. "Look at the pretty ring your Grandpa gave me, in Paris" the girl's eyes widened as she saw it and she held onto her 'auntie's' hand for a long time, admiring the glittering ring before turning to her mother. Bella smiled at her daughter's excitement as Renesmee grabbed her hand too and stared at her own ring.
"Pretty" Renesmee nodded to the two women who exchanged glances before laughing. "Did you give mommy her ring?" she turned to Edward, her warm eyes blinking and he chuckled, brushing her hair down to flatten it gently with his pale hand- her butterfly clips keeping the strands out of her eyes. Renesmee's hair grew incredibly fast though none of them had the heart to cut the long curls.
"I did. It was my mother's ring" he spoke softly.
"Grandma?" Renesmee piped up and Carlisle blinked, for the first time considering how confusing it all must have been for her childlike mind.
"No, not Grandma's. I have two moms and two dads. But my other mom and my other dad both went to heaven. That's why you only have Esme and Carlisle as grandparents." he explained as best he could to the child and she seemed to- impossibly- understand.
"I'm sorry Daddy" she pouted and cuddled him, making Edward smile. Breaking her gaze from the beautiful moment happening in the back of the car, Quinn focused her eyes on the trees flashing past the window in a blur. 'Quinny' had once been a term of endearment, it was once a pet name as warm and inviting as 'Nessie' was to Renesmee. Jensen had ruined that and turned it into something that made her cringe to hear because it had come from the mouth of a monster. When Renesmee had first called her 'Quinny' she was startled for a second, but mostly because she liked it. It shocked her to find that the name she had grown to hate- warmed her heart as it once had, when she heard it from the togue of Renesmee.
It felt so thrilling- to win things back that had been taken from her, somewhere along the line, she had managed to reclaim her own self-worth and since then, more things came. When they finally parked beside the park, the family in the back were quick to hop out but Carlisle and Quinn held back slightly longer.
"I'm ready" she stated decisively, turning to him gently with a grin- seeing his confused frown when she said that. "To get married...I'm ready to marry you, Carlisle" she breathed out and he blinked, frown disappearing and being replaced with a bright smile. "Our family is complete, everything is perfect... I want to marry you, I want to be yours completely for eternity. And I want you to be mine."
"Oh Quinn, I would love nothing more" he breathed in pure elation as he reached across to press a kiss gently to her lips. It felt beautiful to kiss her there, in their pure jubilation.
"I don't care if I have no one to invite... I have our family, and that is enough" she breathed and Carlisle grinned, pressing a kiss firmly to her forehead. "But... I don't want Alice to plan it all, as much as she might want to" Quinn giggled and Carlisle chuckled.
"We'll plan it together?" he questioned with clear eyes.
"Together" she confirmed, breathing out. "Let's plan it in secret, it will save us from everyone else's input" Quinn giggled and Carlisle chuckled, nodding before kissing her forehead. They exited the car together and naturally, they walked a distance apart into the park. It was second nature to them now, in public- to keep their distance. It was just the way it had to be.
As Carlisle took a seat beside Edward in the park, Renesmee dragged Quinn along excitably toward Bella, forcing them both to play with her on the swings.
"She's finally okay" Edward breathed out and Carlisle turned to him with a quirked brow- curiously. "Quinn. She always had so much darkness in her head- There was always something there that upset her and I thought that after everything with Jensen becoming a vampire- she would be in even more pain. But, she's not. Killing him... That was her final act of strength and she's... Perfect" he blinked. "She's happier than I ever thought she could be. That's all because of you Carlisle"
"No" Carlisle denied, causing his son to frown. The doctor smiled solemnly for a second. "She couldn't have gotten through all of this without you Edward. The two of you... You are something more than friends, more than family. You love her and she loves you and that's okay. You're both happily in relationships, but there will always be something there with one another. Something that you need." the man grinned and it was a clear indication that he didn't mind. Nobody would ever understand the love that Quinn and Edward had for one another. They loved and needed one another, that much was true. But they were content as best friends. Edward needed Bella more... And Quinn needed Carlisle more. That was just the way it was.
