Quinn O'Connell was the pretty girl in pink, the homecoming queen and all-around straight-A student. Most people saw her as uptight, narcissistic but most importantly... They saw her as a control freak with her perfect blonde hair and patronising sm...

Quinn sighed where she sat beside her family. Each day brought new challenges and now it wasn't only the creature growing in Bella that they were fighting- they'd sparked a war with the wolf pack now.
"Sam's lost the element of surprise and he doesn't want to take you on outnumbered" Jacob informed them tensely, his two remaining packmates taking to waiting outside so as to not be near the vampires who were their natural born enemies- Even if they'd now pledged to stand alongside one another. "So he's not going to come at you head-on. He's got the place surrounded and he'll wait for his opportunity."
"He won't get through without a fight" Emmett informed determinedly, causing the two family leaders to turn to him.
"No fights" Carlisle encouraged, placing his hand calmingly on his fiance's leg. "We won't be the one to break the treaty" Carlisle shook his head in determination and Jacob sighed.
"The treaty is void." he reminded. "At least in Sam's mind."
"Not in ours" Esme countered back though her eyes shifted over to where Jack stood, pondering beside the fireplace.
"Carlisle" Emmett tried again. "No one's hunted for weeks... How long do you think Quinn can go before she snaps?" he persisted. "Even I'm on edge." and they all couldn't help but turn to the newborn whose eyes were a permanent, ink black, sunken slightly into her pale face. She looked ill. It was the longest she had ever gone without blood.
"We'll make do" Esme decided though her eyes remained pinned on Jack.
"You've done us a great service, Jacob" Carlisle smiled at the wolf though there was a pain in his eyes, a pain at seeing how unhealthy Quinn seemed. "Thank you." As the group disbanded, Jack's jaw was tense.
"I can't" he sighed, screwing up his eyes tightly. "I'm going to wait this out upstairs. I don't want to hurt anybody" the newest male returned and vanished, leaving Carlisle's eyes to turn to his fiance. Quinn was left alone in the room with only Edward and Carlisle for company though it was their company that she relied upon the most in the world.
"How are you feeling?" Carlisle questioned, patting her leg gently as he looked into her midnight black eyes, the colour concerning him.
"I'm okay" she promised, patting his leg. "We'll make do" she repeated Esme's words from earlier in the day and the doctor nodded as he leant forward to press his lips deeply onto hers.
"Quinn?" Edward questioned when they fell heavily into silence again. "Do you think you could... Compel the others not to be hungry?"
"Um... I suppose. They would still be weak, I could not change the physical sensation of hunger but I could try to stop the mental one. The pain" she frowned, considering it and Carlisle shook his head.
"No, it's not an option Quinn. Your powers make you weak at the best of times and you're already hungry" he decided.
"Carlisle, I am fine" she smiled tightly. "And I don't want my family to be in pain."
"It's not worth the risk, Love" he tried, leaning toward her and shrouding her in his embrace. Quinn easily melted into his arms."Just... Hold off on that idea for a little while longer. Please" and she agreed though he knew for certain that if the pain got too much for the other vampires in the house, Quinn would do what had to be done. She was selfless in that way.
Carlisle left shortly after, to reassure the others in the house and Quinn turned gently to where Bella was lying across the couch, asleep. Jacob found himself sat in an armchair across from her and for the longest time- he stared at her.
"You're not like the others" he spoke softly and she frowned at him.
"What makes you say that?"
"Bella's told me a lot about you, your story. All you have ever done is good." the wolf decided and she rose an eyebrow at him, black eyes unnerving him slightly.
"The others are much the same as me, Jacob. We are all just trying to do what is right." she smiled tightly.
"From the way that Bella speaks about you. I don't think I can ever see you in the same light as them. You were human not too long ago."
"We all were human once." she blinked.
"... Do you think she can survive this?" he asked lowly and she smiled sincerely back at him.
"Bella is the strongest human I have ever met. If she can't survive this..." the blonde girl shrugged and he sighed, leaning back into the armchair which he occupied.
In their hunger, the days seemed to blur together- The vampires did not even have the pleasure of sleep to break up the pain in which they experienced and with each passing day, Quinn was driven closer to the idea that Edward had planted in her mind. It was only a few days later that Quinn had to stop spending time with Bella, the scent of the blood being too much for her and instead, she found herself bound to her shared room with Carlisle where she knew she wouldn't hurt anybody.
As Quinn stared at the werewolves in the garden, gaze unblinking, she couldn't help but pray for the day that it was all over and their happiness could return. The Cullen mansion seemed to be a million miles away from where it had been the day of the wedding all those weeks ago.
