Quinn O'Connell was the pretty girl in pink, the homecoming queen and all-around straight-A student. Most people saw her as uptight, narcissistic but most importantly... They saw her as a control freak with her perfect blonde hair and patronising sm...

Quinn O'Connell frowned out into the misery of the daylight that drizzled around the Mercedes on that particularly grey Friday and Carlisle smiled at her as he parked though that smile dropped when he saw her solemn expression. Reaching across the central console, he took her hand gently in his, twirling her ring calmly as he waited for her to express her worries- Eventually, she did.
"Carlisle... We can't be seen together," she informed him and he frowned at her, imploring her to say more. "I mean, together together. I can't hold your hand or kiss you in public because you're supposed to be a thirty-something-year-old doctor, and I'm a nineteen-year-old girl. It could ruin your reputation as the good doctor of Forks." she spoke lowly but knew that he heard her and he sighed softly because he knew that she was right.
"Just another reason to hate Forks" Carlisle spoke softly, sadly and the two of them stayed in silence for a long moment, thinking. They could never walk hand-in-hand down the road together or sit opposite each other on a date. They couldn't kiss under the stars and quite soon, they wouldn't be able to dance together- as a couple- at Bella and Edwards wedding- Assuming the human accepted Edwards constant demands for a proposal. And it wasn't because of Quinn, it was because of Carlisle. It was his reputation that they had to protect.
"The sooner we can go on to Oregon, the better." she pouted and he chuckled softly at her words as he reached across, pressing his lips to hers once, finally and she smiled sweetly at him before they both stepped out into the drizzling rain. Looping her arm through his in a rather innocent gesture- Quinn and Carlisle made their way through the short alleyway into the town, black umbrella held over their heads by the man himself.
The town was rather small but when they made their way into the bookstore, they were glad to see that on a wet day- it was almost empty, safe for the woman behind the desk who smiled at them cheerily, glad to see some people on a quiet day. Carlisle instantly made his way to the many shelves in search of the book he had come for, dropping his umbrella temporarily into a bucket by the door and Quinn made her way in a different direction- to the journals.
Quinn stared at the books for a long time, it was in that very shop that Charlie had brought her the first journal and she had brought the next three- She had been much more miserable then. Humming, she picked up a golden journal, it was leather as the others were but this one was dyed a gold that reminded her oddly of Carlisle's eyes. Within, the pages were crisp white and she smiled in finality as she carried it carefully to where Carlisle was.
Journal writing was a past time that Quinn had found herself enjoying and so, she saw no reason in stopping doing so. Carlisle smiled down at her when she approached, eyes flickering down to the book and then back to her eyes that he knew so well. Every little thing that she did made him happy and when he graciously paid for the books they brought, he was glad to be able to leave the store with her at his side.
"You're going to do some more writing?" he asked softly, a smile on his lips and she nodded.
"Yes... I finished the green book, I filled out the ending... You can read them, if you'd like" she didn't look into his eyes as she said this, looking down in something akin to embarrassment and shyness and he merely smiled, wanting to hold her hand reassuringly but acutely aware of the eyes watching them as they trekked back down the rainy roads. It had been a short trip to town but a successful one. "It gives me something to do, while you're at work"
"Would you like for me to read them?" he wondered calmly and she looked upward at him, ignoring the rain that splashed down around beyond the covering of the umbrella.
"I would... I don't know why I just-- I like having you know. You're the one person in the world that I want to be close to the most. There was a time where nobody ever really knew me, I didn't have anyone to call friends or family, I never want to be in that position again... Besides, I trust you enough to have you know the truth" Quinn beamed and he smiled in return, brightened at the sight of her happy eyes and positive expression as they reached the car once more.
Opening the door was her, Carlisle offered a hand to help Quinn in and she grinned at his gentlemanly fashion as he shut the door carefully, going to place the umbrella safely in the trunk before he took his space behind the wheel once more.
"You're so cute," she remarked randomly and he frowned at her, chuckling in confusion.
"What?"
"Look at you in your scarf" she laughed, reaching across and pulling him closer to her, using his scarf as leverage and he chuckled, steadying himself on his hands on either side of her thighs to stop him from face-planting her lap as he beamed. Pressing his lips to hers softly once, and then twice, he eventually straightened himself. Gently removing his scarf from his neck, he reached over and positioned it on hers and her smile managed to grow even larger as he tucked it around her stylishly, beaming in pride.
