They looked so eerily beautiful, standing there, the mismatched group of vampires congregated for the sole purpose of protecting their family- it was the most beautifully romantic gesture though as Quinn O'Connell glanced around the area- she wanted nothing more than to be anywhere else- she wanted to be canal boat riding in Amsterdam, walking in Paris, laughing in Luxembourg, socialising in Dublin, basking in Greece or dancing in Rio... Anywhere, but there. However, there was nowhere in the world she would rather be- than beside Carlisle Cullen and it was his hand in hers that anchored her there in the snow-covered wasteland as danger finally approached.

They were together, though completely spaced apart as they watched the snow in anticipation. Covens collected near one another- couples basking in a final goodbye but for Quinn and Carlisle- a single glance sufficed. He was so painfully gorgeous standing there in the glare of the brilliant whiteness, his eyes the lightest gold she had ever had the pleasure of seeing- and she knew then, that if they survived... She would marry him the first chance she got. Carlisle Cullen was her world, her everything and she stood there strongly in the snow that day- For him.

From him, her eyes travelled to the others and each glance with a silent goodbye- Renesmee earned a warm grin from her God-mother, a smile that only Quinn O'Connell could manage to produce in such a climate as this... But it warmed the child. Glancing up at Edward, their eyes sticking to one another meaningfully- it was their goodbye.

"If we survive this" Garrett whispered lowly though it was so obviously heard, flowing through the breeze of the suffocating silence. "I'll follow you anywhere, woman" and he turned to Kate because he had finally found his reason to fight.

"Now you tell me" Kate's response was soft but so sincere as their eyes met.

"Carlisle" Quinn whispered, knowing there was nothing that could be said that hadn't already left her mouth a thousand times in the past few days, but equally knowing that she needed to say it at least once more, have his name expel into the snow around her from her mouth and see the sparkling gold of his eyes as he turned them to her in response.

"Quinn" it was his only response, her name. His voice saying her name was the most beautiful thing she had ever heard- it was more beautiful than any 'I love you' because the simple sound of it, told a million stories and emotions, simultaneously. The goodbyes were done, the time for them flowing away in the breeze- herded off by the sound of approaching footsteps and they came.

The Volturi were like a wave- a deadly collection of raven black figures that marched so dauntingly in sync into their immaculate white environment. And the sight of their formation rushed a wave of cold nerve through the opposing side who stood still, and strong now even as they watched them. It was a sea of red eyes, more than Quinn had ever seen before but she kept her fave impassive- Even as the scorching red eyes found her.

"The red coats and coming, the red coats are coming" Garrett chanted, bouncing ever so slightly on his feet and it was welcoming, the sound of the allies that Quinn was unable to see as she faced directly forward, at the front of the pack with her fiance at her side. They filed out into a line of deadly evil and Quinn's eyes flashed over to Edward unconsciously, in time to see him nod once- softly... They were outnumbered.
