Carlisle Cullen couldn't help but smile as he watched Quinn O'Connell, the two of them were sitting on a stretched out blanket beside a random waterfall they had found in the forest, listening gently to the steady stream of the water and the birds around them. Her hand wrote easily across the crisp white pages of her golden diary and he couldn't help but smile from where he was analysing hospital files. He wished that he could be reading a book but unfortunately, work called. He was at least glad that he could be doing it with her at his side- Though, she did provide a marvellous distraction.

"You're staring" she hummed as she dotted the end of her sentence and smiled up at him. "Are you okay?" she looked so beautiful there in the sunlight; the yellow rays brightening her hair which vampirism had darkened to its previous colour. Her skin glittered in a hundred thousand tiny diamonds and as much as Carlisle had once disliked all things vampire- she made them beautiful. Her golden eyes seemed to swirl in a million shades like a whirlpool as she stared up at him and he smiled. Flattened over her body, she wore a denim long-sleeve dress with buttons all the way up the front and a tie at the waist. The sleeves were rolled up partially up her forearms and he couldn't help but find everything about it gorgeous on her.

"I am better than okay" he promised, rubbing his hands over his eyes in an unnecessary human gesture as he turned back to the paperwork with a pen in his hand. She was at his side in a flash and he didn't so much as jump- very used to it by now. Quinn didn't remove her eyes from his as she gently pulled the paper from his fingers and placed them on the picnic blanket.

"You're stressed" she acknowledged, reaching up to ghost her fingers across his cheek gently and he sighed as he leant into her touch. Quinn's touch was one thing that never failed to calm him, no matter how he felt. Reaching up, she pushed the blond waves away from his forehead- finding them free of gel on this, particularly relaxing day. He looked so carefree with his baby blue shirt completely unwrinkled but his eyes told a different story.

"Just work, nothing to worry about" he promised and she assessed his face for a moment.

"Let me distract you?" she beamed and he chuckled with a quirked eyebrow, curious.

"And how do you fancy doing that?" he returned, thumb tracing a pattern on her jaw and she grinned as she pressed one simple kiss to his lips and then shuffled back, looking deeply into his eyes.

"I've been practising something" she began and he frowned. "Can I go in your head?"

"...Depends on what you want to do with it?" Carlisle chuckled in response but she knew that he was only joking. Blinking once, unnecessarily, Carlisle pinned his golden eyes on her hers and was instantly hypnotised by her. That wasn't her powers, that was just the way that she was to him.

"Close your eyes" her voice was the warmest thing he had ever heard when she said that and when he closed his eyes, Carlisle felt as though he was falling asleep- A sensation he hadn't felt in three hundred years. The first thing that Carlisle registered was the absence of sound, the splashing water of the fountain was gone, the birds gone... And it was then shortly replaced with something else. Music was the first thing to flow through his head and he recognised it as the song he had danced with Quinn to at Edward and Bella's wedding a few days previously.

The next thing he registered was her breathing and as he peeled his eyes open, he was sure that he jumped in shock. She smiled up at him from where she stood in her pretty purple bridesmaid dress and as he trailed his eyes around, he found that they were at the wedding reception only now, it was void of people.

"May I have this dance, Mr Cullen?" she grinned at him and he frowned as he reached up to take her hand, finding that it felt absolutely real as he pulled her close and they began to step in time to the music.

"This is all in my head?" he questioned with awe in his tone and she winked at him as she took her turn at leading.

"Of course it is. But I am real, and I am here" she whispered and Carlisle blinked as he spun her around, only when she fell backwards into his chest, he happily leant down and pressed his lips passionately to hers.

When Carlisle reopened his eyes, the waterfall meadow was back and he pulled her close in an instant, recreating their previous kiss with a furious, passionate intensity.

"How did you do that?"

"I told you, I've been practising with playing around with peoples heads" she laughed shyly and he chuckled as he watched her long eyelashes blink, the swirling gold of her eyes slowly darkening into a hungry black and he knew that the vision had really taken it out of her, she was hungry now but she beamed and kissed him once more- Glad to see that the stress had vanished from his eyes. Quinn O'Connell had that calming effect on him.
