Chapter 5-Trip to the E.R.

Rory wakes up as they are putting her in the ambulance. "what happened" the paramedic jumps in the back of the ambulance with her. "Hey, my name is Tia, I'm a paramedic. Can you tell me your name?" "Rory, Rory Gilmore." "Hi, Rory. Can you tell me what you remember?" "I was on the way to Stars Hollow to pick up my boys from my mom. I was talking to Logan on the phone and a semi-truck cut me off. That's all I remember." "That's good. Okay, just rest. We are on our way to Bennett Medical Center in Stamford. They will check you out. Is there anyone I can call for you? We found your phone and called your I.C.E. She is meeting us at the Hospital." Rory leaned back and let out a breath. Her head hurt and so did her wrist. Rory closed her eyes to rest. She opened her eyes again and asked Tia to make one more phone call for her. Tia told her yeah. Rory told her who to call and closed her eyes again to rest.

As they pulled up to the Hospital, Lorelai was waiting on them. She told her mom she is fine; they are just going to do some tests. Tia assured her that her daughter would be fine as they disappeared behind the E.R. doors.

Lorelai had been waiting in the waiting room for over an hour. She has called Luke to check on the boys and update him on well nothing because she didn't know anything other than the paramedic telling her she was going to be fine. Luke told her the boys are eating and he would bathe them in a little while. She hung up the phone with Luke and was debating with herself if she should call Billy. The nurse came in and told her that the E.R. Doctor had examined Rory and that other than a sprained wrist she is fine. Before the nurse could finish Logan walked in. Lorelai just stared at him. She was not paying attention to the nurse. Oh, pay attention. The nurse continued telling her that everything looks good and that she was going for some tests. If all the tests come back clean, she will be able to take Rory home tonight. Lorelai thanked the nurse and turned to Logan. Before she could speak, Logan asked "How is Rory"? Lorelai just stared.

Finally, Lorelai shook herself out of her thoughts and asked Logan what he was doing to her. Before he answered the nurse, came back out and asked if he was Logan Huntzburger? Logan told her "yes, that's me," The nurse told her to follow her. Lorelai just stood there wondering what Logan is doing here. How did he know Rory was here? She Wondered if someone he knew or one of his foolish friends was in an accident. Lorelai told herself to stop worrying about Logan. It has been twelve years. She had other things to worry about. Like Rory and if she needs to call Billy. Rory had mentioned that he was leaving for Australia soon and would be gone for a good while. No, she decided not to call him. Rory could call him after she gets home. Get home. Wow, she would have to get Rory's room ready. April had been visiting last week, so she needed to change the sheet and clean the room. Rory and the boys would need to stay with her and Luke for a few days while she recovers. She calls Luke again. Told him that the nurse said that after the test that Rory should be able to go home. She asked him to make sure her room was ready because she will need to stay with them for a few days. She hung up with Luke. Oh, she needs to call Michel to tell him that she will be off for a couple of days while she helps Rory with the boys. She looks at her watch to see if it is too late to call Michel when Logan comes pushing Rory in a wheelchair, with a brace on her wrist and a bandage on her head. Lorelai stood there with her mouth opened. She was confused. Maybe she had fallen asleep and was dreaming.

Before Lorelai could speak, Rory said. "Mom, you remember Logan, don't you?" Lorelai just nodded her head. Logan stuck out his hand for Lorelai to shake and she just looked at it. Rory told Logan, "I think she is in shock. Get her some water from over there." Logan walked away and Rory said "mom, Mama, Nana." Getting louder with every different name. She finally spoke loudly "Lorelai!" Lorelai said "What," Rory told her that she had been staring into outer space. Logan walked up with a bottle of water. Lorelai took the water.

Lorelai- "Rory, what is he doing here.?"

Rory "Mom, I will explain later, but for right now all you need to know is that Logan was my other meeting today. We have talked and we are going to give it another try. Mom, before you say anything, I'm a grown woman with 2 kids, yes Logan knows about Chris and Will. Please Mom, just let us figure this out."

Lorelai "Okay, but as you said you have 2 kids, I don't know how many Logan has but the point is, you and Logan are not the only ones to consider."

Rory "I know Mom. Logan and I are going to figure this out. I will not introduce him to the boys until we have it figured out and I have talked with Billy.

The nurse walked up with Rory's discharge papers and pain meds. As Logan was rolling Rory out the door to Lorelai's jeep, Rory asked about the boys, Lorelai told her that Luke had fed them and was probably already bathed and put to bed. She told Rory that Luke was getting her room ready. Rory said "sure" She looked at Logan. "I will talk with you later. Call me when you get home." He said "I'll text you. You need to take these meds the doctor gave you and get some rest. Your mom and Luke can take care of the boys, right Lorelai." Lorelai just nodded her head. "Sure," Logan continued. "I'm headed to my apartment in Hartford. I will be in the Hartford office tomorrow and Friday. Call me and we will make arrangements to meet." He leaned down and kissed her on the lips.
