Chapter 39 Air Hayden Cut up Credit Cards
Rory and Lorelai are walking back from Luke's the day after Christmas. The twins have opened their stockings that Santa left at Nana's and Poppy's. Luke took the boy sledding and Logan went to visit his mom with Honor. They are going to try to explain to her about Cliffside in Malibu. They are hoping this will not be a fight.
Rory and Lorelai stop at the gazebo and sit on the steps. "Well, the wedding is next. Is there anything you need me to do?" Lorelai asked. "Well, there may be. Billy is not coming to stay with the boys. He has a great job opportunity. Logan, myself, Honor, and Shira are flying to California after the wedding. We are going to get Shira settled. Honor is going to stay in Malibu for a couple of days. Just to make sure Shira has everything she will need. Logan and I are going to fly to Hawaii for a week. We plan to fly back to California for the 2nd week. We were wondering if you and Luke would like to fly the boys to us in California. We can all go to Disneyland. What do you think of that?" "Wow, that is a lot. You are taking Honor and Shira on your honeymoon? I think that is funny." "Just on the plane, not the honeymoon." Lorelai is still laughing. "As far as me and Luke flying the boys to California, I'm sure we can do that. Have they ever flown commercial?" Lorelai asked knowing they usually fly with Billy. "No, and I hope they don't have to this time. I'm going to ask Dad for the Hayden plane if it is not booked. Gigi may have it. I know she was supposed to fly to Paris for a few days between Christmas and New Year's."
Later that afternoon, Logan meets Rory and the boys at Christopher's. They are eating dinner with him and Gigi and opening the stocking that Santa left at Pops' house. As they were setting the table, Rory asked Logan how things went with Shira. Logan rolled his eyes. "I'll tell you tonight after we get home and get the boys to bed." Rory just nodded her head.
After dinner, the boys went to play, and the adults sat around the table drinking coffee and catching up. "I heard the boys ask about Louie. What's going on? Him having something else to do did not seem like the right answer." Rory asked. "We broke up," Gigi said. She looked like she was about to cry. "Oh, Gigi, I am sorry. Do you want to go somewhere to talk? Rory asked. "No, maybe later. Right now, I want to concentrate on the wedding." Rory looked at her Dad and Smiled. "Daddy" "Oh, no. You want something. Come on, it can't be money. You have plenty and your husband is loaded." Christopher said with his hand on his chin as if thinking. "I know, you want me to keep the boys while you honeymoon." Logan was chuckling under his breath. "No Daddy. I need to borrow Air Hayden." Christopher laughed. "Is that all? I would have thought your fiancé would have access to several plans. And then there is the ex-husband. Doesn't he own a few?" "Well, Daddy. Logan and I are taking his plane to Hawaii for the 1st week of our Honeymoon. Then we are flying to California. Mom and Luke are bringing the boys to meet us to take the boys to Disneyland. We were counting on Billy flying them, but he will not be able to."
"Are you going to Disneyland?" Gigi asked. "Yes, we are. Mom and Luke are flying the boys to meet us. If Air Hayden is not available, they will have to fly commercial. I just hate for them to fly commercials with the boys. They are used to being able to move around on the plane." Rory said. "Gigi, Karson" Logan started to say but stopped to look at Rory. She nodded her head. "Karson is coming along to help with the boys. Would you like to come?" Rory nodded at Gigi. "Yes, that is a wonderful idea."
Christopher said "Let me go look at the schedule. You know the board members use the plane a lot this time of the year. I know that Uncle Stanley was going to use it to surprise Aunt Betty with a trip to see the grand and great grand's." Christopher got up and went to his office. He came back with his laptop. Looks like they are scheduled to return on the 7th or 8th. I will call him tomorrow and find out for sure. Your mom and the boys could fly out on the 9th. That will still give you plenty of time to be in California. Will you need a ride back?" "No sir," Logan said. "We will have my plane." "Are you okay with Gigi coming with you?" Christopher asked. Rory looked at Logan and said "I think that will be great. She can help with the kids. It will also give Karson someone to hang out with."
After they got home and the boys were in the bed, Logan was sitting in the reading chair in their bedroom with a book in his hand and his reading glasses on his nose. He had on his pajama bottoms and no shirt. Rory is standing at the bathroom door, just finishing up her nightly routine, staring at Logan and his bare chest. He works out all the time and you could tell. Logan, never taking his eyes off his book, asked, "Ace, see something you like?" "Yes, I do," Rory said as she crossed the room and sat in his lap.
Later that night Rory asked Logan about Shira and what was said. "She is not happy. She threatens to leave. She told us that if made her go she would leave the first chance she gets." "I bet Honor was upset." "Probably, but she wasn't showing it." Logan chuckled. "Before I could say anything, Honor flew into her. 'Mom if you do not go to rehab, you will have nowhere to live and will have no money. I will cut you off completely' Then mom said 'don't be so theatrical. You can threaten me all you want, but you will not throw me out. I didn't raise you like that.' She was saying this with her nose so high up in the air if it had rained, she would have drained." Rory was smiling. "Well, what did you say?" Logan had a grin on his face "I didn't get a chance to say anything. Honor grabbed mom's purse out of the closet and took out her house keys and her wallet. She took the credit card and started bending them back and forth until they broke into. Shira was looking at her like she was in shock. When Honor finished, she looked at me 'do you have anything to say?' I told her no, she had said it all. She then told mom that I and her were going to get a cup of coffee and a muffin and that we would bring her one back. She told her that she needed to make up her mind by the time we got back so she would know what to tell the doctors about the hospital bill." She grabbed my arm and we left." Rory was laughing. "I'm sorry. I should not be laughing, but Logan, I can picture it all."
"Don't hold out. Tell me what she decided." "Well, when I got downstairs Honor was on the phone with Eula, our accountant. She told her that she wanted a list of all accounts that were in Shira's name. All the accounts that were in my name or Honor's name that Shira had authorization on. She told her to email them to her then to call and cancel all accounts associated with Shira Huntzburger." "Wow, she means business." "Yes, she does. She told me that she was not going to go through this anymore. She had her children to worry about. I told her I agreed."
"When we got back to Shira's room, I sat down. At this point, I was not needed. Honor knew I would jump in if I thought I needed to. She asked Shira what she had decided. Shira told her that she would go and try it out for a week. Then she would decide. Honor told her she would be staying more than a week; she would be staying until she had her addiction under control. By this time Honor had started to cry. So, I stood up and told Shira that I was behind Honor and if she did not believe us to be serious, she could call Eula, or she could call any of the accounts or credit cards. Shira didn't say anything, she just looked at us. Honor handed Shira Honor's phone and told her to call. She called Eula and she told her what Honor had said. We left after that. I told Shira I will be back tomorrow to check on her and we left. Honor called Dad when we got back to the lobby. Told him what was said and done so that he would be up to speed."
Rory told Logan that she was there for him or Honor if either one of them wanted to talk.
